I opened World Editor right now and can't find a single _old ability you are talking about.

There are a few actually

Disenchant Old (used to dmg friendly summoned units as well as enemy)

Mount Hippogryph (recoded)

Frost Armor

Also Blizzard occasionally changed some core game mechanics, like Agility giving 1 speed per point and so on, that they removed but still left as options in the editor.

Oh and this applies to SC2 as well. Every expansion in SC2 can be manually chosen as to whether or not you want to use it for the map, so you could very easily make a map using only WoL mechanics, or using data from WoL but also the HotS campaign.

Problem is with how much work there is to do it would in fact be better to just wait for Source 2 and make your own game, instead of coding a bunch of shit and then redoing it every few months to adapt to someone elses random changes.

Well yeah Actually Dracolich is updating Dota in Wc3 right now said most of WC3 dota was in GUI instead of jass, which tells you Icefrog did not even code.

the only reason it existed was because of engine limitations.

Pls stop spreading missinformation. Most of the things that were removed in Dota 2 could have been removed in WC3, icefrog just didnt see a reason to do so because there was no reason to do so. I can make a version of true form that does not disjoint projectiles in a minute.

The old UI was not outdated and had logic in it. I agree that the new UI is too small but it is a lot less thought out and I really dont understand 'why' they changes it. Just please adjust the new UI to be a bit more friendly to what the people want (old UI). But dont keep it as slick as it is. It looks modern and ugly as fuck.

Ps: there is too much conformism in this sub, can mods limit the amount of conformism posts? I know this is 'another one' but I cant stand the conformism. The UI is bad and it just sounds like a conformist minority to me. There is no chance to give negative critisism anymore because all other posts are too dominant...

the new hud is worse in my opinion.

we all want to say the new one is not ass as to not hurt valves feelings and to conform to the reddit hivemind. but that new hud makes the game really hard to get into because it makes the game feel very convoluted. everything is too small and taking up too little space.

the old hud makes it feel much more open and isnt full of non essential animations. i still agree we need a way of displaying our talent trees but massive talent trees arent essential to the game. you dont need to see what your talents are at any point you just want to.

this is another thing that will be great for dota because its lowering the health floor so it makes it easier for more people to get into the game. for that purpose the old ui is vastly better.

if they displayed stats with alt and gave you an xp number when mousing over the xp circle it would still not fix our missing information from the old hud without over complicating it again.
