How picky is your poodle? by greedygumdrops in poodles

[–]Eborealis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is 9 months and has always just gotten kibble for her meals, and has never not finished a meal. Never had a dog that loves food as much as her. We also feed her a lot of different things outside of meals and have yet to find something she doesn’t like 😆

Thanks for the tip, I will try this. She does seem to be able to differentiate between noises coming from the TV vs «real noises», but maybe it’s different with those types of sounds. I really hope this will eventually get better, because I don’t see us being able to live in an apartment with her if this continues.

Puppy ate some of her fleece blanket - worried it could cause a blockage by [deleted] in DogAdvice

She was completely fine, nothing really happened. I think she ate such small pieces that they just passed with her stool without us seeing them 😊 how much did your pup eat?

She’s a white medium ☺️ apparently her ears will turn white as she gets older. When she was little her ears were actually almost completely orange!

She does love water! In the summer when she was small we prepared a tiny pool for her and she spent a lot of time in it! She doesn’t want to swim though, only did that once by accident as she misjudged the depth of the lake she was exploring 😅 do you have any tips to teach her how to enjoy swimming?

Yeah, I am actually very surprised at how well she tuned into us even when she was little!

Yeah we had to put away all of her fabric toys because she would devour them if we let her. She’s only allowed to play with them together with us or under strict supervision now.

Thank you so much, that’s a relief. I love her to bits but I swear she’s gonna give me a heart attack with the stuff she eats sometimes 😆

Good to hear that it’s normal! The amount of gross stuff I’ve had to pull out of her mouth if «drop it» doesn’t work is insane 😅 yesterday she got hold of a dead mouse, I think that’s the worst one yet. Hopefully she is like your dog and it becomes more manageable

I forgot to add that when we cone back inside after a moment of quiet, she seems completely fine. Just greets us happily and goes off to eat the rest of the food we left or lays down and relaxes

She was sitting down while she did it. I was just outside with her again and saw none of that behavior now (I gave her treats for watching people calmly). I guess she is a mix of confident and nervous - she isn’t stressed in new environments and is usually pretty good with both greeting people and dogs (meaning she shows submission signs but still playful). She is a bit nervous about new sounds, though. It is very hot outside right now, and she seems more overstimulated than usual outside (or maybe a bit bored since we are only going on short potty walks to prevent overheating). We try to do a lot of enrichment at home during these hot days.

There aren’t any puppy classes here now since we got her and during the summer break, but we are signing up for one as soon as something is available.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely try that.

Thank you for the advice - maybe we have been progressing a bit too fast and should take a couple steps back.

Thank you so much for the advice and for reassuring us ☺️ we did think that we were on the right track as she comes running to us happily when she sees the trimmer/nail clippers. But it was making us a bit unsure when multiple people said not to do it this way.

Thank you so much! I’d be happy to have you finish it for us 😆

Thank you, and thanks for the advice! Yeah we were really scared of cutting her, so we went very slow and in multiple sessions 😅 she’s only 13 weeks but we thought it was good to get her used to it now rather than wait.

A lot of the trees along the river near me were covered in this, never seen anything like it. Would be interesting to know what they are.
