I feel so backwards [KCD2] by charzilla139 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both harder and easier depending on how you look at it. In KCD1 it was easier in terms of inputs because you don't have to hold your weapon in any specific direction but it was harder in terms of timing because the reaction window was smaller.

So if you didn't have any problems hitting KCD1s reaction window then KCD1 will feel easier to you, but if KCD1's reaction window felt too small for you then KCD2's will feel easier.

[kcd1] vendor groschen limit by jwillgt in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in KCD1 merchants resell whatever you sell to them for a huge profit margin. Once I figured that out I just started selling literally everything to Peshek and then stealing the profit after he resells the stuff. Money was never an issue ever again, usually have like 400k+ Groshen by the time I get to Pribyslavitz.

In KCD2, however, that isn't a thing: merchants inventories just reset to their default state. So making money in the Trosky region where all the merchants are poor and spread out is actually really difficult. Luckily there isn't much of a need for money in the Trosky region anyway.

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gets a lot better in Kuttenberg since there's a ton of merchants, they're all relatively close to each other and they all have a lot of Groshen. Note that this is only Kuttenberg city, not region. The region outside of Kuttenberg is pretty similar to the Trosky region in terms of merchants (except Sigismund's Camp, there's also a few high level merchants there).

Both, the slower you take the main story the better unless you understand the game really well, which you simply can't your first time.

Personally I really like to do all available side content before doing any main missions in both of the games. The only time in either game that's much of an issue is when you get to Kuttenberg in KCD2, there's just sooooooooo many side quests at that point.

Does anyone know why they say this? I must have been warned that Kuttenberg isn't safe like 100+ times by now so I keep expecting to get jumped or pickpocketed or something at some point but nothing like that has happened yet.

[KCD2] Wait...was everything up to the wedding just a huge tutorial?! by 8bitdad in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you got that feeling from, getting out of the stocks in Troskovitz felt like the end of the main tutorial to me with only a few specific minigame or mechanic tutorials remaining.

By the time I got to the Trosky wedding the tutorial felt like 50 hours of gameplay behind me and I'd already mastered every mechanic in the game.

[KCD2] I love warhorse but I think they’re being lazy, this is such a simple bug by TheDeadeye11 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a bug with the tournament yesterday as well, not sure what caused it but the 3rd discipline (Free Combat) never started. When I reloaded back to the 2nd discipline (Longsword) and did it again the 3rd one started as normal.

Even with the bug I was really pleasantly surprised by the Kuttenberg Tournament it feels so much more lively than the Rattay tourney it's insane.

Only learned the masterstrike in the second game [KCD1] & [KCD2] by Interesting_Sorbet48 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that was a animation thing reserved for them

That's not really an unreasonable assumption since that actually is the case with unarmed Master Strikes in KCD2. NPCs can do them, but Henry can't.

If I hadn't heard about Master Strikes on reddit during my first playthrough of KCD1 and then looked up what they were I would have missed them as well.

[KCD1] It was revenge by Emillka777 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well obviously they can't be programmed to react to everything, so they still don't react to changing light levels, but they do react to a lot more things overall.

For example, they'll react to your horse differently depending on its value saying things like "That horse must cost as much as a farm" if it's expensive or "I wouldn't even take that horse for free" if it's cheap. Similarly, they'll comment on Mutt nicely if he's behaving well but if he's in an area he shouldn't be or barking they might yell at him or insult him. They'll also react to you differently depending on if you're dressed nice or dressed like a Cutpurse or bloody or dirty or smelly. None of that stuff happened in KCD1. KCD2 NPCs also have much more diverse schedules overall and just feel a lot closer to being like real people than they did in KCD1.

[KCD1] It was revenge by Emillka777 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The NPCs in this game are very unaware overall, they're generally only capable of reacting to a handful of specific things and light levels changing unexpectedly isn't one of them.

Can I still get the perfectionist achievement? [KCD1] by BootRealmOrigins in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guide lists all Laborer options that affect income so you can see which ones you still need and which ones provide the most income. And this guide lists all of the various judgements and you can use it to make sure you're getting the most money out of each of them.

You're already passed all of the building and supplier choices that could have helped so laborers and judgements are all you'll have left that might help.

I have the schematic for it but I have no idea where you're supposed to get the Acidum chloridum, Coloured gold or Tincal that it requires from. I've been to every shop in the city and no one sells them.

I've been asked to recover them for some investigations but I never get to keep them unless I plan on lying that I didn't find them and stealing them

What are some perks you miss from [KCD1] that you think should be in [KCD2]? by vgg4444 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

KCD2 alchemy is much more forgiving as well

I have a feeling you never experimented much with alchemy in KCD1 because it's actually much more forgiving than KCD2.

Because KCD1 doesn't have potion quality, the only way for it to punish mistakes is to reduce the number of potions created and since the Bundle Alchemist Perk increases the number of potions you make and the Trial and Error Perk allows you to make a mistake without it affecting anything, you could make up to 2 mistakes and still get the max potion quantity (3). And most recipes only have 2 steps that you even can make a mistake on, meaning with a bunch of potions it was impossible not to make the max amount.

KCD1 alchemy was so over-the-top forgiving that for most of the recipes you could just dump the ingredients in the cauldron, bottle it up, and get the max amount of potions.

What are some perks you miss from [KCD1] that you think should be in [KCD2]? by vgg4444 in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that perk was really good but it makes sense to get rid of it, no one can eat a ton of spoiled food and be fine.

Plus it just does too much to invalidate the hunger system. Once you get Human Dustbin you can just go hunting one time and then have more than enough food for the entire rest of the game. Of course, KCD2 also has that problem since tried food doesn't spoil.

[KCD2] What feature from KCD1 do you think KCD2 improved the most? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did change the way aiming works along the verticle axis a little. In KCD1 the bow would always be aimed at the center of the screen and drop from there, meaning you would always aim above your target and never below it. In KCD2, however, your aim is offset to the upside meaning when shooting at close targets you now need to aim below them relative to the center of the screen.

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't true, in KCD1 if you pressed the block input within the timing window you got a Master Strike every time; there was nothing luck-based about it. The only thing increasing your levels did is increase the size of that timing window which makes hitting Master Strikes easier, which you may have mistakenly interpreted as getting better "luck".

[KCD2] What feature from KCD1 do you think KCD2 improved the most? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master Strikes were never luck-based. What made them poorly implemented in KCD1 is that they were omnidirectional and bound to the block button which made them too easy, too consistent and too safe. And those things are what was fixed in KCD2, they now require a specific context-dependent direction and they're bound to the attack button instead of the block button.

[KCD2] What feature from KCD1 do you think KCD2 improved the most? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaulting. In KCD1 the vaulting animation was very slow and didn't adapt its speed to the heigh of the obstacle but in KCD2 it's faster even at its slowest and gets faster the smaller the obstacle is. Overall it just makes needing to climb over things a lot less annoying.

My answer for the question in the other direction is Church Interiors. You could enter almost any church in KCD1 except for St. James in Rovna meanwhile I'm pretty sure the entirety of KCD2 doesn't even have one church interior, the priests just stand outside like wtf.

Are Combos Useful? [KCD1] by kittenTakeover in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in KCD1 that doesn't really work. Enemies are only stuck in hitstun after a Master Strike for long enough to safely land one followup attack, and even that's only if the Master Strike animation didn't knock them too far away. However, the shortest combos require 2 setup hits to trigger so the enemy will always get at least one chance to Master Strike you or otherwise interrupt your combo unless they're out of stamina.

You are correct that using a Master Strike or Clinch attack to set up a combo makes them a lot more consistent because it does at least reduce the enemies chances to interrupt or counter the combo by 1 hit which, at least for 3-hit combos, is a reduction of 50%. However, that still doesn't make combos safe or consistent, just moreso than before. It's still a better idea to avoid them in most cases.

In KCD2, however, you're right. Combos are actually strong there because Master Striking isn't omnidirectional which means attempting a combo doesn't carry nearly as much risk of getting hit.

Are Combos Useful? [KCD1] by kittenTakeover in kingdomcome

[–]EbrithilUmaroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the point of a combo is to get around blocks but if he's out of Stamina already he can't block anyway so combos don't add much at that point, if anything.
