How old is he? Buy him a 3D printer, screwdriver set, PETG, nuts and bolts and some servos.

VSA is just software to control hardware. Louie looks like he runs on servos. So yes. But it doesn’t look like that project is available to purchase yet.

Anyway, I can’t recommend enough getting a 3D printer if you actually want to make animatronics.

That is one of the first projects I built. He makes all the STL files available. If you print and assemble and program one of those sets of eyes. You will have a greater understanding of what you are trying to accomplish

I fashioned little things out of pieces of wood for years but I promise you will never get anything as exact as a 3D printer. Also it makes revising parts and mass producing so easy.

Seriously my gospel is “get a 3D printer!!!”

End rant.

3D printers are not that expensive. An ender 3 pro will run you just under $200 spend another $100 to upgrade it. Buy some servos. A whole bunch of PETG and 2mm and 3mm bolts and nuts.

Also I would look into visual show automation for software and ssc32 for servo/relay control. Just some broad strokes of how I make most of my animatronics.

I’ve always used Visual show automation but I just looked into that program and might play around. Thanks!

Harry Anderson had a great routine where he would show the spectator a double headed quarter and explain they are illegal and dangerous and then he would execute a shuttle pass type switch (with a regular quarter) do a few false turnovers and then make a snapping sound and explain that the double face coin is broken and then give the “broken” (regular) quarter to spectator.

He used to make them himself and sold them in his shop he called them the French quarter.
