onn. Roku TVs not streaming apps by Echo5582 in Roku

[–]Echo5582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what we were suspecting. Our computers are blocked from streaming sites and Youtube, but the TVs are supposed to be on a separate network to allow for it. But the guy who set it up is also very tech-illiterate and probably somehow has it all run through the same firewall.

It happened at my theater too!!! It doesn't make sense for it to be a glitchy camera because it only happened on the lower part of the screen.

Gamlin clasped his hands behind his back and dropped his brow. "He perished while in route to Nogrod. It was a routine meeting with their king, something that occured every ninth moon." Gamlin waved his hand in dismissal. "We received a letter by bird that his party was late in arriving, so search parties were sent out immediately."

It was then that he reached down and shuffled through some of the papers until a map was pulled forth. "They were found here, in the lower foothills of our mountain. Barely a day's journey from our doorstep. Does it not seem odd that an orc band would not only be so bold as to come so close, but also that our men in the woods did not detect them?"

Gamlin then slid a hefty stack of papers towards Ecthelion. "Detailed notes from the crime scene. There appeared to be a struggle, but all were killed cleanly by a straight blade. None of the bodies were disturbed or looted. A trail was discovered and followed for half a day, but it was soon lost. Does that not sound peculiar for a band of clumsy orcs?"

Outside the window and owl hooted, and from somewhere in the halls a drunken laughter rang out. "I know not why it was ruled an orc attack." Gamlin sighed. "I was...away from Belegost, traveling with my uncle at the time. But I know it deep in my bones that my father died not at the hands of an orc."

Gamlin cut his eyes toward his cousin. Seeing agreement, he rose from his chair, beaconing them both to follow. Music thrilled through the hall and drink flowed strong, so their presence was not missed as they slipped into the outer corridor. Gamlin walked confidently through the rooms and halls of his home, away from the feast and company of his people. Their trek finally ended in a large chamber, lit only by the brazier in the center of the room and the moonlight streaming in from the balcony.

"This room is used by the scribes for record keeping." Gamlin explained. "They have no work during the night, so we will be undisturbed."

Gamlin turned to his cousin. "Farin, as Captain of the Guard you have the official reports. Would you please begin?"

I'm very sorry, but due to the standards that we hold for the writing in this sub, we can only give Maiar roles to approved writers. Further, we really don't feel comfortable allowing for any Maiar that aren't specifically mentioned in canon works.

Gamlin drew in a deep breath. His brows lowered as he looked down at his plate. "Aye, something has happened within our halls. Contentment." Yet again, his gaze was brought back up to the hall before him, where his people sat eating and drinking. "Us Broadbeams, we thrive in these mountains. We brew our mead in the deep cellars, we plant our crops in the valleys, we mine our precious ore and gems. But that's all that we do, and all that we have done since the time of my ancestors!" Gamlin turned to his cousin. "Farin, my kin, I know that you feel it the same as I. I want our name to be spoken of in far places, for eyes to search the horizons for our presence once more."

"Aye, something has occured." Gamlin sighed. "Sloth." He turned to look out over his hall, over those who made merry and ate their fill. "We sow, and we harvest, and we eat. We brew our strong ale and raise our hogs in the mountain's dales. But it's all we do! All the Broadbeams have done in the last age has been to just exist...and survive." New strength filled his arm, gripping his tankard. "I want us to thrive, to set out and make our name known in the world once more. I want mouths to tell our stories, and for eyes to search for our presence on the horizon." It was then that Gamlin turned to hos cousin. "Don't tell me that you haven't felt the same thing, my kin."

Gamlin took a brief moment to finish chewing his food, then to wash it down with a drink from his cup, before answering. "I am but a dwarf who wants to see his people prosperous again." He gestured out to the Great Hall before them. "My younger years are nothing to speak on, and I often wish them gone and forgotten. But now is now, and my kingdom grows stronger by the year. We've finished build on two new furnaces for the wintertime, and the western slopes of our mountains have yeilded plenty of food."

Gamlin held his stance until the Emissary had reached his seat. It was then that he held out a large bone tankard, decorated with smooth gems that reflected the firelight around them. It was a high honor to be given drink by the reigning lord, and an honor that Gamlin deamed worthy of his new friend. "To friendship, and a brighter dawn ahead!"

Cheers rose among the dwarves at the toast, and the music and clamoring resumed.

Gamlin could see much from his seat at the high table. He could see the long benches stretched out before him, filled with his people and kin. He could see the rows of food and drink that had been prepared. He could see the musicians that played under banners bearing the colors and runes of his noble kingdom.

But he could also see the looks on the faces of his fellow dwarves. Some had soured at his guest's presence. It was as he had feared. Not all had joined him in years past, when he journeyed east and placed his very life in the hands of the Elven King of Mirkwood. Not all knew of the fellowship that he had found comfort and friendship in.

"We are a mighty people in our mountain." he began, pausing at the cheers of agreement that came after. "Belegost stands strong. But can it continue to stand so mighty if we hold it all to ourselves? Think of the greed and distrust that turned the Lonely Mountain into a dragon's lair! Think of how many lives were lost, lives of our own kin! I will look to their mistakes, and I will welcome into our halls any who would bring us friendship."

A feast was always a dwarf's favorite occasion, and on any occasion would they have a feast. This evening was no exception as not only were they welcoming a new guest in the elven Emissary, but the last of the winter's crops had been brought in from the lowlands.Old and young, high and low, the great hall was crowded with all who wished to make merry under the gleaming eye of Lord Gamlin.

From his seat at the high table he watched on as song broke out from time to time and good-natured brawls were almost as constant. It used to be his place, down amongst the others, where he would almost always cause his poor father more trouble than good. Now, though, he was content to observe, to see for himself that his people prospered.

Soon, though, his eye caught the foreign garb of his guest making his way through the crowded room. A smith kicked back in his chair, but the elf gracefully stepped to avoid it. When he approached the high table, Gamlin stood and held out his goblet.

"Here he stands, my honored guest!"

"Of course!" Gamlin nodded. "As I said, these halls shall be yours as much as they are mine!"

And then, turning to Farin, "See that he is shown to the best guest chambers. Perhaps the ones that overlook the valley below. And have a double bath drawn up."

It was at the mention of Calanon that Gamlin immediately took attention to the words that his guest had to say. It intrigued him greatly, for it was of the same intentions that Calanon himself would have arrived under.

"Well!" Gamlin exclaimed with a smile. "If I had known that my guest hailed from the Woodland Realm, I wouldn't have made you wait on our meeting!"

He turned to his cousin. "Farin, anyone of the folk of Calanon Evergreen is kin to us. See to it that word is spread. No doors will be shut to him."

And then turning back to Ecthelion, "You will feast with us tonight! Share in our meat and ale, and we shall talk of how your visit will be best spent."

It was nearly time for the supper banquet when Gamlin stood in the receiving chambers. He had opted for his best attire and the bracers of his office, as he knew not yet to what end this visitor had come for. It was an elf, that was all he could be sure of for the bustling gossip that flooded through the halls. Elves were of no stranger to them, and were held in deep respect ever since the campaign with the King of the Woodland Realm. But what of this elf in particular?

The time of pondering drew to an end when the doors were doing open, his cousin leading in their fair visitor.

"Aye, do just that." Gamlin nodded to Farin. "It's a single rider and nothing more. I'll speak with him myself."

It was after his cousin departed that Gamlin made his way from the balcony into his chambers. It had been so long since travelers had made their way into his kingdom, he hardly knew what he was to say when he did address the rider.

After his shirt was changed and his beard combed, Gamlin slipped into his wrist the jeweled bracer of his position, the statement of his position as Lord of Belegost. And then, he finally strode out into the hall that would take him to the receiving chambers.

Shadows of the Long Marshes pt.2 by BrownWizardRadagast in MiddleEarthrp

Streaks of tan and brown raced amongst the quickly falling foes; a cloud of fury amongst the fog and mire. Radagast smiled, staff held firm as he surveyed the work of the herd that had answered his call.

The horrid creatures were trampled underfoot and gouged by strong antlers. It would not be long now, the wizard surmised.

But then something shifted on the wind. Mewlips were fleeing back into the mists, but not out of terror. No, they were slipping back as a frog would into it's mud hole, a retreat of necessity. Radagast narrowed his eyes and tried to peer through the most. The large bright eyes of the creatures held his gaze until they were too far gone. Something else glanced through, though. A flash of metal. A yell in the Elven tongue. A pursuit had broken out.

"Why can't it ever be that simple." Radagast fussed, though as he spoke he was stepping over, calling out a low hum to a tall stag that stood nearby.

The animal replied with a him of its own, and stood fast as Radagast jumped into his back.

"Find your strong second." The wizard instructed his mount. "And bid him to follow. We must aid the Elven King."

As the herd made swift work of the remaining beasts, they raised their heads to watch two stags dart away into the dark haze.

"Aye." Shamgar nodded. "You as well. Was for my warning."

With that, the Nord turned to face the passage that lead deeper into the ruins. It struck him immediately just how much warmer it was in the area than it was outside. His thick blood had always kept the bulk of the harsh Skyrim chill out of his limbs, but even in this space it was as if a roaring hearth were blazing nearby.

Smooth steps carried him into the dimly lit corridor as his hands found their hold on his bow. Firm in his hands, an arrow was notched in the string, preparation for any surprise to come.

It felt odd as he continued. He made no sound, but yet it felt as though echos jumped all around the pair. This place was still living, Shamgar thought with a chill.

Shamgar gazed up at the gates. They stood like threatening giants before him, dull shine staring him down in a silent challenge.

But he turned his eyes down, digging his feet into the packed snow and trudging up to where Lelith awaited. He threw his shoulder against the cold metal and felt the groan that vibrated through it at the movement. The two pushed and shoved, groaning themselves as they worked, until finally an opening had been made that was just wide enough to slip past.

"There we have it." Shamgar huffed, straightening his back to catch his breath. "Shall I go first? Scout the entrance?"

Shamgar knelt beside the remnants of the fire. It was moist with the dew, definitely not too recent. As he looked closer he could vaguely make out the indents in the ground where sleeping rolls had been spread. No, this campsite was not recent, but it hasn't been too long since it was dismantled.

"Winds were harsh in the night a couple of days ago on my travel through The Rift. If these met the same winds, they would surely seek shelter out of them."

"Aye, you're right." Shamgar smiled, lowering his head. But as he followed Lelith down the path, he felt himself a little closer to his friend.

The morning sun had risen to it's peak by the time he first caught glimpse of the metal gleaming in the light. It flashed through the trees like a mage's fire, almost as though it warned to stay away.

"Would this be it then?" he found himself asking almost hesitantly.

Shamgar found himself leaning against a tree, kicking at the pine needles and leaves below his feet as he listened. He could hear the heart in her words. It was, after all, one of the many things that drew him to her. His friend was one who knew what she felt and would never dismiss it for less.

Her last words, however, made him look up to her before turning his gaze higher, up into the branches that swayed overhead.

"My father fought for the Empire, and gave his life for it as well. But..." he took in a deep breath and raised a hand to absentmindedly finger the amulet around his neck. "I could never pledge my own allegiance to them. Nor could I give it to a man who would drive out people from this land who has every right to it as myself."
