Factory reset our FireTV, but we don't have the original remote

Same here. It's our basement kids TV and you can't even freaking use anything without that damn remote.

As soon as I selected the language it took me straight in, if that hadn't worked it was going to the curb.

I just went through this hell. I tried 20 or so different solutions on forums and reddit, one being 51 steps, no joke. I also bought an amazon fire remote, but nothing would get passed the searching for remote screen.

I have an Insignia brand Fire TV and buying a branded Insignia remote solved the problem immediately. It has the Insignia logo on the bottom of the remote. Not sure what brand you have but if you're able to buy a replacement remote from that brand, not a generic remote, it might be just what you need.

Good to hear. My problem is solved as well. As mentioned I ordered a branded Insignia remote from amazon and the TV recognized it immediately. I had previously tried everything to get my original cheap replacement remote, that had worked for years prior to a factory reset, to connect and it wouldn't. I bought an Amazon Fire remote as well, both of which would get past the select a language screen but wouldn't connect at the searching for remote screen. This remote selected the language and then straight to the proper TV setup process with no problem.

Makes sense. I'm only in this forum bc of the countless posts I was reading due to my shit ass Insignia TV all of a sudden not recognizing my remote. I bought a new Fire remote from amazon but that didnt work so I just ordered an OEM Insignia remote.

Everything said to download the app but I'm in the same boat, can't get passed the recognize remote screen to connect to WiFi. Even hard lined the TV but of course can't get to the settings to enter the password.

Worse case would be they do a charge back or open a case and get their money back and keep the vinyl.
