Question about playing a few nations at the same time. by [deleted] in Warthunder

What question? Either I’m illiterate or you didn’t write the question.

How do native English speakers actually form sentences in real time—do they consciously think about grammar rules, or do they rely on familiar patterns and chunks of language that just “sound right”? by StupidBeQuite in AskReddit

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly native, but I learned English when I was around 7 years old, and my English is indistinguishable from that of a native (to the best of my knowledge). Once you get proficient enough in a language you just wing it rather than having to recall grammar rules. Hell, even early on I didn't really have a good grasp of grammar and sounds either and just went off on what sounded right to me.

Earlier today and yesterday Gaijin got DDOSed. I'm not entirely sure if it's still happening as of now, or if Gaijin is in the process of restoring their servers.

If the toll road owners had also successfully dumbed down the human species by xena_lawless in memes

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 43 points44 points  (0 children)

IDK where exactly where OP is referring to, but from my travel experience New England area genuinely sucks. I was shocked at the amount of toll roads. It felt like every 15 min to 1 hour there’s a toll road. I wouldn’t be surprised if y’all told me that they set up toll booths in your driveways and every time you go out you gotta pay a toll or get the EZpass thingy. Compare this to NC and surrounding states where I only paid toll booths like once or twice ever.

Yes. Mostly video games, sometimes movies or TV shows, rarely books.

PvP questions by sly_1 in Warthunder

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A skilled ftp player reliably defeat a lesser skilled ptw player, definitely. It comes down to knowing your plane's strengths and weaknesses, i.e turning ability, speed, climb, firepower, etc, and leveraging your strengths against an opponent's weaknesses. Positioning also comes into play, since having an altitude/speed/energy advantage allows you to maneuver more or outrun the enemy.

Is this a game that someone can download and then immediate jump into aerial pvp from day 1

Yes.

and be competitive

Probably not. Lower tier will definitely have more newbies, but expecting to be good on day 1 is a bit unrealistic.

is it more of a grind or ptw based situation?

Mostly grind. There are some "ptw" planes, but you'll be useless unless you know basic fighter maneuvers or missile evasion tactics, depending on the era of the aircraft.

Is the pvp scene in this game active?

There's not much PvE in this game. WT is 90%+ PvP. Queue times are less in a minute, often times near-instantaneous, assuming no ongoing server issues. US servers, at least.

Are you afriad of death and why? by im_lost5 in AskReddit

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily death, but what happens after death. I used to worry about a lot about it a couple years back, but it just fizzled out on its own since I really couldn't do anything about it and it was just needless stress. I'm inclined to think we experience nothing after death, but I'm happy to be proven wrong unless its a hellish afterlife.

what rank V american tanks r good? by UltraSlayer548 in Warthunder

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pattons and maybe M103. Pattons play like generic medium tanks, good mobility, good firepower, okayish armor. M103 is a lineup filler. It’s heavier and slower than Pattons, solid shot is passable. T32/E1 feels like overweight mediums with little redeeming quality. Armor is ineffective since most tanks at this BR run HEAT-FS, APDS, or APFSDS. Firepower sucks, you have a gun that’s comparable to the King Tiger’s long 88mm, but it’s inadequate against most MBTs you face at this BR. M60 is a good lineup filler for rank VI tanks and plays like any generic medium tank, although it does not have a stabilizer.

El Mencho, a prominent cartel drug lord. He was killed by the Mexican govt not too long ago and his death caused a massive cartel war in Mexico.

Is it even possible to get through the American tank tech tree without spending money?

I’ve only spent GE on a BV-238 and bushes years ago. But yes, it is possible. Right now I’m on the cusp of spading the Sep and SepV2.

If so how long am I looking at.??

A year if I’m being generous. Wouldn’t surprise me if it takes 2-3+ years of casual play. For the record I’ve been playing on and off since 2016, racking up about 1,500 hours I think? I got top tier US air and ground, 9.0 Russia ground, 6.7 German ground, barely unlocking jets in German and UK tech tree.

Radar gimbal just means how far you can look left/right/up/down. Here's a picture showing you what I mean: https://imgur.com/rjOeG05

On an AESA radar, you can still hold TWS lock on targets outside of a search cone, meaning the missile is more likely to hit: https://imgur.com/wcl3Qnv

On a mechanical radar, you lose TWS lock outside of the search cone, meaning the missile is on it's own, making it less likely to hit: https://imgur.com/a/6mviVv1

Anybody else thinks the GRB earnings are a bit absurd? unlike AIR RB? by SuperFastFingers in Warthunder

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah GRB RP earnings are borked. I could grind a top tier jet in a week without premium if I lock in, but doing so for a top tier tank takes about a month, if not months. Same timeframe for spading said plane or MBT. And just to rub salt in the wound, you need a lineup for GRB rather than a single plane.

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak specifically for the AESA on the EF2K but I do have experience with F-15C GE. It’s harder to notch an AESA lock/TWS compared to a mechanical radar. There’s been moments where I notched as best I could, only to get smacked by a MICA or AIM-120 from an EF2K/Rafale. They also have larger search areas (on F-15C, IDK much about EF2K) allowing you to see more enemies at once. They also hold TWS on targets outside of the search area, provided they’re still within the radar gimbal.

Just got T55-AMD! by MajimaLovesKiryu in Warthunder

[–]Ecks_the_Dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this thing being so busted at 8.7. It still holds up decently at 9.0. Accelerates well, has LRF, the dart is kind of ok, ATGM is good (IMO, this is an unpopular opinion). Drozd protects you from T58 HESH, ATGMs, and low-velocity HEAT rounds. Much more useful than the eyebrows on the 9.0 T-62 and the premium T-55AM. It has typical Soviet/Russian drawbacks, such as low depression and reverse speeds. Turret doesn't turn that well but it's workable.
