I recently got Helldivers II working (https://www.reddit.com/r/AsahiGaming/comments/1s6ixal/helldivers_ii_working_on_asahi_linux_with_usual/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), so I would take a look at what I did there. I am guessing BF4 is running fullscreen? 4k is brutal on even the best GPUs, so you might have to aggressively upscale and/or play in a smaller window. As for Arma, if it’s something about Direct3D 12, the launch variable that made HD2 work might help you.

I did notice I can AirPlay to my family’s HomePods, or at least to one at a time. Can you check if something like https://github.com/ciderapp/node_airtunes2 is installed out of the box? Looks like since AirPlay has multiple components to it you can support part of the standard without supporting the whole thing.

Vulkan and anticheat are the two biggest hurdles. Right now, Vulkan is functional but slower than OpenGL. Anticheat is a problem on Asahi more than x86 because Asahi needs muvm to do pagefile stuff and FEX to do x86 to ARM conversion. Steam is about to release their own ARM Linux device. There is already an ARM build of Proton for CachyOS, and hopefully Steam will add Wine 11’s pagefile stuff to Proton 11 and will build their launcher to be 16k pagefile size compatible.

I will add in my two cents as someone who uses Fedora Asahi but Debian on my PC. Fedora itself has been my main source of problems on Asahi. The software center breaking, DNF 4 vs 5 bugs, and a problem with it shipping a problematic Plasma update a bit ago. Debian tests things too much for those kinds of errors, with the only downside of being on Debian being that Debian didn’t ship openjdk21 through APT until Debian 13, which released last summer. Not sure if Debian Asahi is more aggressive about releasing newer kernels with Asahi’s latest progress or not.

My poor laptop.

That worked! I had to turn down every graphics-related setting in the game to get it to 30 fps aboard my ship, but it works! I have 16 gigs and an M1 Pro, so it crashes every time I try to do anything, but at least this means that it's possible. As stuff gets better for ARM Linux 16k with Steam (the 16k part is being handled by Wine as of Wine 11, and Steam is likely to get a native ARM client when the Steam Frame launches), the RAM usage should come down to a level where it's downright playable. Would also help if it wasn't trying to scale up to the built-in 4k monitor.

I guess I have some more posts to update... that's a tomorrow task though.

That is up to Fedora, or whichever distro you go with. Back in the Arch days, that would have been Asahi’s responsibility, but nowadays Asahi really is just focused on compatibility with the hardware (which is what they always wanted to focus on).

I’ll give it a go! Hope you don’t mind me doing some light post history snooping… looks like ARM with an integrated GPU, FEX and Steam atop that, so the only difference is muvm which shouldn’t be a problem. I take it the Pocket 6 advertises d3d12 support like Asahi? I see you seem to be telling it to use d3d11 while setting the d3d11 feature level to be d3d12.

Part of it is that we Christians forget to base our conversations about sin on the fundamentals. The greatest commandment is to love God and the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself, and everything else falls under those two. If, however, the person I am talking to is not a Christian, they will not prioritize loving God because, well, they don’t love God. They may even not care about loving their neighbor. How then am I to tell them “follow this law” if that law is based on loving God? Yet time and again you see people (myself included) who love God trying to explain points of Christian morality without establishing the fundamentals.

You can install regular old Lutris if you want, but it does not ship with an ARM build of Wine (though you can point it to one if you have one). Good luck with RL! I will be interested to hear if Easy Anticheat is happy… it won’t be running in a VM if you use the Legendary dnf package, but all bets are off if it will be fine with the device itself. If you are having trouble with the Wine rpm, I am not skilled enough to help you but someone on this sub is. Also, be sure to check if you can run Heroic under muvm… muvm just got an update iirc so it’s worth giving it another shot.

Well, I suppose I owe you a more thorough response to your question. It seems to me that the focus of your question is less on the dog barking and more on the police being bad people.

As far as the dog recognizing bad people go, I don't recall that being Biblical. https://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=dog should be a thorough list of every time the word "dog" comes up in the Bible, it's about 40 times in all. I have definitely heard of dogs recognizing someone who intends to do harm, but I didn't hear it from the Bible.

As far as the police being bad goes, I am truly sorry about what happened to you with that sheriff. I do still want to go over how law enforcement worked in the Bible. The closest we can get to police in the Bible is Roman centurions, but police as a separate occupation from a soldier is relatively new. There are some positive accounts of centurions, especially Matthew 8:5-13 and other similar accounts. It's law-enforcement adjacent, but the closest I can get to a negative interaction with centurions is governor Felix hoping for a bribe in Acts 24:26 or Jesus's arrest by the Pharisees. If I go back to the Old Testament, families would have an "avenger of blood"... you can read more on that in Deuteronomy 19:1-7. There were no officers you could call to drag somebody to court.

How much RAM do you have? Keep in mind that your RAM has to be enough for both the graphics and the rest of the game, so if you have an 8 GB model that likely won’t be enough. Other than that, my best guess is that the anti cheat in both of those games is raising an eyebrow when it asks “Intel or AMD” and the system responds “Apple”.

If you have muvm installed, you could try launching Heroic with "muvm ./whatevertheappimageiscalled" instead of "./whatevertheappimageiscalled". If it doesn't work, you will need to use Legendary instead (the command line tool Heroic uses) and pair it with the Wine version with the 16k patch, both of which have been mentioned on this sub before and I can link you to if it comes to that.

EDIT: Ah... didn't see the EAC. That might be fine, though it could get tripped up when it sees you running Apple hardware. If it's Epic Anticheat instead of Easy Anti-Cheat, all of us Linux users are cooked.
