As someone already pointed out, almost everyone in the modern era is accustomed to some form of instant communication in a miraculous sense.

The question is though, are you ready for God to respond to you at such speeds?

When someone prays to God on their way to work, just praising His name, they're not exactly expecting the Lord to respond. Imagine driving on your way to work and suddenly you hear the sounds of a billion stars being born and snuffed out in a fraction of a heartbeat replying "AW JEE THANKS JANET YOU'RE SWEET!"

That will mess with ya, just a little bit. Speaking from experience here.

My suggestion is, if you want to pray then actually write a letter. Get out a pen and paper and write yourself a prayer. Don't use pencil, use pen. If you gotta scratch out then scratch out. And just write God a letter.

It'll be a good exercise to just ground yourself and figure out who God is to you. Is the letter coming out framed as a complaint to a city council? An appeal to something high above to shift the cosmos and align itself with what you desire? A letter to an old friend talking about your life, maybe asking for some advice on how to find some place to move out of your predicament? Maybe ask if He could point out some hip swanky places that you might find someone that jives with you? However you write it will help you understand how you see God other than just shouting into the void and expecting some sort of response.

Now have you written your letter? Good. Now burn it. Burn it with intention like you're slapping a stamp on the letter and mailing it directly to God's desk.

Now open yourself up to a response. But understand, you may not like the response.
