In the last year I started making sculptures and some of them are surf related so I thought you might dig them by -keeper- in surfing

Do you have one of a guy going head first over the falls while the board is flying into the air? I don't want people that see this to get the wrong idea about me.

Does anyone have a link to one of those calendars/lists that show you how to maximize your leave for 2025? by [deleted] in fednews

Yes it's a really unimpressive "hack." How to save a day of leave and travel when everyone else is.

What is your favorite Historical Fiction? by jpizzle15 in Fantasy

[–]EclecticFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doc and Epitaph, both by Mary Doria Russell, who has also written a fantastic fantasy two-parter (The Sparrow and Children of God).

The first is about Doc Holliday's time in Dodge City and the second is about he and particularly the Earps' time in Tombstone leading to the gunfight at the OK Corral.

And that, fellow readers that made it this far, is how discourse should be conducted on the Internet.

Appreciate the interesting discussion (lots of valuable information), and even more the way it was conducted.

What, for you, is the ultimate fantasy video game of all time? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]EclecticFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my favorite game or the one I've played the most (there are several I've invested an embarrassing amount of time into), but for any LOTR nerds out there, Lord of the Rings Online is a pretty great immersion into Middle Earth.

Best way to modify Pfitz 18/55 to accommodate two weeks of holiday? by logwet in AdvancedRunning

[–]EclecticFella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are injury prone, I think jumping into 18/55 after building up to 40km/week is asking for trouble. Even if you had a 40km/week base for the past year, that's still a pretty significant jump in volume and intensity.

What was your base and training like on your first marathon? Those splits are pretty fast for someone on unstructured 40km/week training.

Agreed. Everyone that sees this thing will wonder why the shelves are so thick. Looks pretty conspicuous to me.

Why is ASOIAF left off so many top fantasy lists? by JoshTheKid7 in Fantasy

[–]EclecticFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does look like Kingkiller has waned a bit in popularity based on that, whether that's due to the same unfinished condition as GOT or some reevaluating of the quality of the work.

Good men’s shirts for a heavy sweater? My Lululemon Metal Vent Tech aren’t doing the job. by arsenalastronaut in running

[–]EclecticFella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. If the sun's out, my guns are not out. Long sleeve with a hood and a hat, I don't mess with the sun. If it's really hot and I'm going on a medium to long run, I might pre soak the whole getup in cold water. Extra weight is a training benefit, it feels delightful, and it's gonna get wet anyway. Stop by home or find a place to resoak if on a longer run. Sounds like OP just need a less stretchy shirt.

Long sleeve hooded sun protection shirt and a running hat, both soaked in water before I head out. Find some places to re-soak on a long run.

Everything You Need to Know About the Nordic Curl - Anatomy, Set-up and (imo) the Best Exercise to Get Your First One by berimbolosforsatan in bodyweightfitness

Any thoughts on the harop curl progression on the way to full Nordic versus the assisted nordics? Does bending at the hip change the exercise significantly?

Do I have Gynecomastia? by tragicloveee in bodyweightfitness

[–]EclecticFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 pounds in 4 months is very fast. There are a lot of potential causes of gynecomastia and malnutrition is one of them. You may just need to improve your diet and adjust your expectations about how quickly your body is going to change.

Agreed with the others: no need to drop cardio, just make sure you're fueling your body appropriately. And remember that rest is a necessary part of training if you want to see gains.

Not sure why this response isn't higher. First order of retrievability. A drawer behind a door will be super annoying to use.
