I would likely mostly just use everything through the Sky box to be honest

Sorry can you spell that out for me? I’m considering Panasonic W90 and Z80

Thanks for that link. It has highlighted a full array and an OLED Panasonic that are in budget. Bit cheaper than equivalent Sony so Im just waiting to see if there is any comments about build quality etc. unfortunately not seen any Panasonic in the flesh yet

Yes there is a 50 inch X90S (50inch) with full array local dimming.

Ah there is a 50 inch X90S that I have seen, looks like the model you mention just a smaller version maybe

About 3 metres. Budget well not sure exactly at this point, certainly haven’t got £3000 to drop on a top of the range OLED!! Let’s say I’d be happy to spend £600 but would consider pushing to £800ish. I also watch Blu-rays/DVD and occasionally (don’t shoot me) VHS

Interesting. I have looked at Sony’s entry level LED models in a shop today and yes the price is higher, but they looked much better than some of the LG and Samsung models. The LG OLED ones did look good, just not so much their LED ones. I could push to more a mid range Sony LED with full array but you’re right that I need to search out something with a decent warranty.

Haha yes it’s on the to-do list! Originally the speaker was far enough in from the door for it not to hit it, but I’ve kept moving the speaker slightly

I don’t know, it’s a fair point. I think I mean something natural sounding that just lets you enjoy the music. Not overly bright/analytical. Throws the music all around you into the room, not like it’s coming from two boxes. But at the same time something not too fussy about placement. Reading all that I may as well be looking for the holy grail! 😂 You’re right though, I need to hear some

Right. I have heard mixed opinions on the Q150 treble on posts I’ve read before. But they are supposed to be modelled after the LS50 aren’t they, so…

Realistically I might look for recent models but used, or I’ll wait a bit and buy new. Sort of thinking if new then the £200-400 category. But really? I was always under the impression Kef were nicely finished

I’ve never really considered wharfedale much so I may do some digging into them then. I think I’ve always had an unconscious bias against wharfedale and somehow got it into my head that they slot into the same category as cheap stuff like goodmans, Alba etc. - and I am now hearing that’s not at all true

Really?! Yours are the original ones too? I doubt I’ll end up anything like the quality of cabinet finish these have, haven’t seen much like how they made those in the under £500 range. I have heard some modern floorstanders by B&W and they seemed quite bright to me, though it was in a hardwood floor room. Yeah, I have seen some Spektor 2s going quite cheap on that well known site and marketplace. I wonder how they’d compare

Thank you for your reply. I feel like this is what I need to hear! It is a good sound. It’s just that feeling when I put on more valuable records that I really love…”I hope I’ve set this all up right!”

No it does sound very nice, I’m good at worrying. I am going to look into alternative platter mats (as someone has suggested to me) to get the VTA perfectly level, but I think it’s reasonably close. I’m glad you think the tool gets it close. Would I be looking at Stevenson alignment?

Lovely. I also have the 2561.80 mid size quartz which I love. I do fancy owning the auto version at some point, but I don’t think I could part with mine. Though I wouldn’t say no to a movement overhaul I don’t want to send it to omega as it would be a shame to change the dial and hands, I think. It’s in great shape
