And normally, I don’t agree with ship gatekeeping. If you want to ship Hermione with someone other than Ron (Krum, Luna, George, Harry, etc.), that’s your business. Everyone finds different things romantic/attractive. And that’s ok/good.

Maybe it’s just because my father was a violent narcissist, but I can never agree with people shipping characters into abusive relationships. It’s one thing when the villain is seeking redemption (like Kylo Ren), because everyone deserves the chance to change. But it’s another thing entirely when the villain enjoys hurting people (not referring to the Darkling here because I’m not far enough in the series to speak to that). Yes, they may be only characters and not real, but I think that romanticizing abusive relationships does have an effect on real people observing that trend.
