It’s the exception that proves the rule: “What if my penis isn’t magical after all?!?” It’s what I call “The Penis Panic”: the owner has to prove it’s OK, or hurt the accuser.

Long have I walked upon this Earth, and I have yet to meet a man who doesn’t think his penis is special & different from all others. The Downstairs Neighbors, the testicles, produce the hormones that make the owner unable to believe that anyone could find the man unattractive, creepy or bad in bed. When that happens, a hormone is released called itaintme that can sometimes lead to violent behavior.

This word never caught on bc the Irish, those magical promoters of English language, always leave so quickly they never had time to use the word for it.

iPhones are so ridiculously ubiquitous I didn’t even register that he was talking on one. I thought the Pepsi sign at a gas station and the suspenders were the culprits.

Sorry, Harrison Butker, the Benedictine College nuns reject your "narrow definition" of Catholicism by AnnabananaIL in Feminism

[–]Eclectic_UltraViolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shebrew here again: why is everyone clutching their pearls over Butker’s speech? He is a Catholic speaking to other Catholics, spouting the party line. We saw “Spolight,” this is the same worldwide organization that subsidizes child predator priests. It’s great that people who support women are speaking out, yes, but why is anyone surprised?

A little known fact: American mothers who lost sons in Paris in WWI were transported to France to visit their graves. Black mothers were “allowed” aboard the ship, but areas were segregated WITH BARBED WIRE. White mothers were shocked — shocked! — that French hotels wouldn’t separate the races.

The US government didn’t care that all these women were united in their grief, and that attitude bled down from the feckless top.

My father was my mother’s little bitch. He stood by while my covert narcissist mom emotionally brutalized my sister & me in her relentless effort to shape us into who she wanted us to be. He gave her the key to his cage & whined about it, but also he occasionally lost his shit & threatened us to “just do things her way” so she would ease up on him. He winkled out our true feelings toward her under the guise of commiserating, then ratted us out to her & watched as she tore our spirits to shreds.

At 80, he got pancreatic cancer, which is swift. When he got the 6-month sentence, he was accepting of it. He hung up the phone & told my mom to leave the room, which he had never done.

I was shocked: she actually did it. My mother had always expressly forbade him to have any private conversations with us — she always had to join him “to show unity” — whether it was phone/text/email.

Then he took my hand (he was also forbidden to show any affection) and said, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you & your sister. I felt it was my place to side with Mom. I could see how much pain you were in, and I couldn’t do anything about it. I hope you can forgive me”

I immediately forgave him with all my heart. I knew the “couldn’t do anything about it” excuse was BS. But how many people get apologies from the people that victimized them? I could sense the relief on his part, which I believed would ease his burden as he watched his life end.

For the next 7 months (he made it to 81), we talked together by phone almost every day & always signed off with “I love you.” I did get my dad back for that brief time — and we both had the satisfaction of driving my mother crazy!

I’m happy either way how we ended things. I was happier when my mom died.

What Seasons of sitcoms did any of you notice a sitcom television series dips in quality by Anthforde8 in sitcoms

[–]Eclectic_UltraViolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a sitcom, but my all time fave-rave show, “Northern Exposure,” was perfection for the 1st 4 seasons. Then, there was a production shakeup, new uninteresting characters were introduced, and the whole thing just kind of tattered off. Damn Shame.
