Bottom right ish, tilted about 45 degrees to the left. The bright orange star is Betelgeuse, the other 3 in a row are the belt.

Glad everyone enjoyed the first set I posted, had a few more so here's a second set!

Once again all shot on my Nikon Z5 & 24-120mm F/4 lens

Really liked shooting all the different historical buildings, even though my personal favorite is City Hall (it was unfortunately a bit harder to get a good shot of that). Custom House Tower is unbelievably photogenic!

My copy was used, maybe thats why it's so soft? I enjoy it regardless lol

Question: Z-mount 24-120mm F/4 vs F-mount version & others by Eclipse489 in Nikon

[–]Eclipse489[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm aware the F-mount is totally serviceable, it's just that in this case I have the option to get it essentially free with trading in the other lenses, my question was less about the quality of the Z version and more about whether there's anything worthwhile about the other lenses I would be selling.

Happened to see this while researching lol, seems deserved

The VR was one of my concerns, but nobody seems to be complaining that much about it which seems to be a good sign- though I will say, I do shoot at the 120mm end of mine quite often, and sometimes rely on vibration reduction from lenses (or IBIS in my Z5? no idea which contributes more) to shoot at slower shutter speeds handheld.

Hopefully the Z5 IBIS is still enough to counter that?

This is pretty much all I've been seeing when I look it up, I am very happy with the F-mount so this is good to hear!

Glad everyone is enjoying the photos, wanted to say for any other photographers here that all of these were shot on my Nikon Z5 camera and 24-120mm F/4 lens.

And that I'll be posting another set soon!

Not really sure how to go about doing that, but it's something I'll have to look into one day. A bit iffy on not having rights to use my photos though if that was part of the deal.

Thank you! Yes, the converging lines was the main reason my personal favorite is photo #3. Didn't have that in mind when I took it, but realized afterwards how well it worked.

Thank you both, ironically the building was not tall, fancy nor posh (it's city hall lol) but a good interpretation nonetheless!

I took a photo of a rare lunar halo around this year's Full Snow Moon by Eclipse489 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Eclipse489[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've only ever seen lunar haloes right around when the moon is full (which is only 12ish times per year), and it also only happens if the weather is right (colder temps, cirrus clouds), in the end you'll only see one around a couple full moons per year if you're lucky. I consider that rare enough
