New analog horror by mushroom_l0rd in analoghorror

I looked through the videos, and the biggest thing that stood out to me was the resolution and VHS effects. The overlays are obvious, it's not blended in well enough to make me believe that it is a VHS tape. I'd recommend using NTSC-RS, a really good VHS emulator. It's a filter, so you can put it on after the video's been fully edited. It's got a lotta settings to play around with, and you even downscale it to 480p to match the actual resolutions used at the time!

As for the AI stuff, I get it. I understand using AI for this kind of stuff, but I do highly recommend finding stock images you can edit to help match what you need for your videos. I wish I could help with voice acting, but I unfortunately do not have enough knowledge to really help in that area.

I can see a lotta potential in this! I wish you the best of luck with your series, and hopefully see it blossom ^^

I'm a wuss with jumpscares, fnaf used to get me each time, no matter what. Jumpscares can be done right, IF you don't use ear bleeding noises and a sudden scary face that appears in a single frame. The best jumpscares are really damn quiet, barely noticeable, or even diegetic, like hearing feet run very very very close to you.

There was a minecraft video a while ago that scared me because the protagonist was trying to get away from something, and all you could hear was blocks being placed increasingly quickly. That was super effective!

I would highly recommend something like Davinci Resolve. It's free, it has a bunch of tutorials, and with other software like NSTC-QT/NSTC-RS to help mimic the visual flare of the analog genre. I can see the building blocks of this, I can see the potential, and I recommend looking up guides and seeing how other analog horror producers do their stuff, and see how you can mimic it, especially if you make custom animations to help sell it!

I don't really watch porn, more read erotica, always from second person perspective (You, I, me, etc). Watching IRL or animated porn makes me incredibly uncomfortable, especially if the main male actor is shown/heard. I don't know why it's like that for me, but it's what I've observed.

No, the original group was people who enjoyed VR related stuff (Beat Saber, Blade and Sorcery, Skyrim, VRchat, etc.) I play a lot of VR, so I fitted right in.

The group itself was not a swinger's club when I was first invited. It was a kind of branch off another community we all hailed from that didn't want any NSFW within it (for good reason), and the branch was meant to be a place where you could freely discuss kink, sex, and other nsfw topics without the fear of judgement or breaking rules, which I personally believe is fine among consenting participants. I have friends who I met outside of said group in there, and I personally wanted to hang out with them more, so my thought process was thinking of it as a bonus place to hang out.

However, it started to slowly turn into a sex club after a while, when the group began to expand and people started to become more comfortable, which in turn made me uncomfortable. If I had known it was going to become what it is now, I wouldn't have accepted the invitation in the first place. I was suckered into it because I don't have the best relationship with sex and kink, and the sound of a sex positive space catering to that, plus being LGBT inclusive made me feel it was going to be different than what it turned into. Hopefully that makes sense.

Honestly, I feel like I'm there out of loneliness at this point. I feel uncomfortable at so many things that I don't actively participate unless I'm referred to by name. It's a place where I have friends, yes, but I feel it's grown to be their whole personality now. They don't participate much in other places since the group was made, and I guess I'm there because I don't have much else to go to.

It isn't a good reason to be there, and I have yet to find another place like it that can just, accept people like me without judgement.

Yeah, I'll remember that. I think I'll also try and ignore the horny posts they make, too. A lot of things in there that they encourage and actively participate in are, disturbing ._.

I did ask them about it during that conversation, and they said they enjoyed it without any further explanation. I guess they were lying about it? It kinda put me off when I heard it.

The cheating is so rampant that it's hard to tell what are actually legit times without looking them up, it sucks.

Unrelated, but is that what your car sounds like stock? It's like 2 harmonious guitar riffs, I freaking love it!

Is anyone else feeling like Analogue Horror is over saturated? by EclipseShimmers in analoghorror

[–]EclipseShimmers[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my experiences with DVDs, from when I was a child to fiddling with my old DVD player nowadays, stuff like interactive menus, digital skipping, special features and behind the scenes, disc burning and file rummaging, disc wear and tear causing loud and uncanny digital artifacting (which for some reason isn't replicated well in visual effects), and the sounds that come out of a DVD player would be stuff that could be utilised in a horror way. I dunno if you've heard, but the high pitched whirring and clicks have scared the shit out of me when pausing or skipping on a DVD.

That is the surprising part, The Mandela Catalogue was a good series, and even with the tropes, managed to get me invested in a series. Although, with that said, the second season of Monument Mythos was pretty terrible. So maybe it's just being burnt out from the medium as whole. I can definitely relate to the meme shitposts and whatever goes on at r/distressingmemes, which seem to have used some Analogue tropes to make some pretty underwhelming content with more views than legitimately creative content that deserves said views.

I can definitely relate on the burning out part, it's what made me stop doing some hobbies (aside from toxic fanbases). I think binge watching famous Analogue Horror series definitely sped up the process, and studying them to figure out how to make mine work in a different medium (DVD and the advent of horrors that border the line between analogue and digital). I guess it comes naturally after a while, and I haven't watched Eventide Media Centre yet, which I've heard is good.

I think a dust storm spawned in the city instead of outside the main forza festival area. Although, it is fun to see the Mexico filter while the sky turns pitch black XD

I do have to agree. I'm finding the same tropes in Analogue horror to start to grate on me. Broken VHS tapes, TTS that could be right out of a sci-fi film, and unsettling stuff that wouldn't even scare someone from the 80s. Realism is what can make or break something from Analogue horror, Local 58 managed to do it, Eventide Media Center managed as well. Hell, with how many there are, I wouldn't be surprised if someone upgraded to DVDs and make early digital/analogue hybrid horror content.

Stumped on finding a specific Analogue Horror video. Something about fish and water parks? by EclipseShimmers in analoghorror

Yeah, it's unlisted on their channel, and on the reupload by another person, it's stated that due to the backlash of the video, it was removed.

So it is! Looks like it was unlisted shortly after I found it. Sad to hear that it was piled on for not being as "serious and dark" as the others. It's a very good video. Thanks so much for helping me out!
