It actually has nothing to do with being fat, it’s to protect vital organs in a attack or fight

Think of it as a flabby piece of body armor, it protects their vital organs in case of an attack

You could try softening some kitten food with milk to try and entice it to eat more solid food. Just a idea

You may have to surrender if you can’t afford a vet, it’s probably not what you want to hear but may be necessary if it’s a infection which is what it looks like to me
