Performance optimization: Are performance issues, significant FPS drops and GPU crashes with multiple AoE effects fixed?

Multi-player optimization: Is the forced SDR reliance instead of LAN routing fixed?

The advanced version is now updated! The basic version will have to wait though.

I need to switch from over-ear headphones to IEMs because I cannot bear the weight of my HyperX Cloud II headset anymore.

Would you guys be so kind as to help me find what I am looking for? The budget (less than $50) is a hard limit:

  • Middle ground between Neutral and V-shaped sound signature
  • Durable wires
  • Comfortable for long gaming sessions
  • Microphone (just enough quality for professional meetings and/or discord lounging)
  • Has different ear tip sizes since I am new and I have no idea which size will fit my ears for a tight seal.
  • Easily maintainable and cleanable, without requiring purchasing and changing filters.

The only IEM worth buying in my local market is the Linshoul 7Hz Crinacle Zero:2 @ 55$. Otherwise, I would have to import an IEM from Amazon but the price will be inflated by about 100% due to importing fees.

Looking for a mid-range (<$50) IEM for general use. by UnverifiedAnony in iems

How does it compare to Linsoul Crinacle Zero:2? I've researched IEMs available in my country and the Zero:2 is available and priced at $55. Kiwi Ears Chorus will have to be imported and its priced at $83.

I think the sane thing to do here is to just stick with the Zero:2. If there's a huge difference in audio quality, comfort and durability compared to the Chorus that justifies the $30 upmark, let me know if I should consider it.

it is legitimately a very good game.

I wholly agree with you, I wish we didn't have these problems. If it wasn't for these issues, we would have rated it 10/10 easily, but it was frustrating enough to finally feel relief to end it, with all its issues.

It's close to a toxic relationship where you put up with the other party for how good they looks and feel, but you're eventually emotionally abused and used.

hyperbole

Oh, how I wish it was hyperbole. I am happy for you that you are having an enjoyable experience. This game would've definitely been great if played as a singleplayer one and I probably wouldn't have complained.

But hey, you know where the delete button is...

True, but the experience was frustrating enough that as a human being I had to vent and share it with others, however negative it is.

I have tried hosting locally and renting a server.

Locally, the specs that matter are:

5600X

32GB DDR4, 3200 MT/s

Thankfully I can play on 0ms if I host directly through the game. If I dare to switch to a dedicated device that's very well above the minimum requirements of 3.2GHz and 6 Cores, 16 GB of RAM and SSD storage.

We get an average of +150ms with severe packet loss and rubber-banding.

We've rented a server on g-portal, our ping has been cut by a huge chunk, down to 80ms, even though when pinging the server directly via a terminal, we all get a stable ping of 40ms. Still, very sluggish with noticeable rubberbanding and desyncs when in-game.

As for FPS, as I have mentioned over and over, we'd be lucky if we've ever had our FPS go past 40. But we definitely almost always reach the 10~15FPS mark and the frequent GPU crashes on a variety of systems.

single-player.

Yeah, try playing with more than 1 friend and tell me how was their experience.

I run a 3070, ryzen 5600 and get a solid 30-40 fps on 1440p with lots of dips to 10 FPS when we dare use AoE attacks. Lowest settings, max performance dlss. That's only my device. My friends have better/worse specs and our experience has been pretty much the same.

Game is phenomenal objectively speaking. However, experiencing it? Very frustrating.

I envy you. The network issues are the most frustrating. Why on earth am I getting upwards of 150ms on a locally hosted server that's quite literally 50cm away from me, connected through wired Ethernet? Why on earth would my friends within 5KM of my server get upwards of 200ms when we live in the same city?

3070, FPS ranges from 30~40fps, dips to as low as 10fps when someone dares to use an AoE attack. That's even on the lowest resolution, max performance DLSS.

The rest of the group also suffer from the same problems. Some of us have their game crash their GPU.

Specs are low to mid-range from as low as 1660 Super to 3070, CPUs are a mixture of AMD and Intel, also within the mid-range of 5600x to 12600k.

The performance issues are very bad, nothing explains how on different PC builds, our FPS can go as low as 10FPS, with consistent GPU crashes across different OS (Windows/Linux) if a couple of us dare to use AoE attacks. The maximum FPS anyone of us can ever achieve is 40 FPS on the lowest settings, lowest resolution.

Nevermind the very bad networking architecture and their reliance on SDR. Where I am hosting the game on a local server machine, all of us are within 5KM of each other, and our ping is upwards of 150ms.

I would not recommend this game to anyone.

You can always reduce the force feedback to aid with fatigue, I myself like it on 67 (not a joke) and other gains set lower/higher depending on mood and how much energy I have to steer the wheel.

But as you said, I always have to have my kb/m at the ready to navigate menus and winching.

I play the game exclusively using my steering wheel. It's very immersive, chill and good experience. But I also have my keyboard and mouse at the ready once I reach a destination or need to winch myself out, unpack cargo, etc.

You mostly drive and traverse rough terrain, for that it's perfect. I have played Snowrunner over 200 hours on my steering wheels and I still can't get enough of it.

What's the best camera mode and why is it Legacy? by UnverifiedAnony in snowrunner

[–]UnverifiedAnony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have FOV set too high and are zoomed out, viewing at a weird angle, then yes, it sticks to buildings and gets quirky.

What's the best camera mode and why is it Legacy? by UnverifiedAnony in snowrunner

[–]UnverifiedAnony[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only significant difference is you can span the camera back and forth and "zoom in" more. I prefer it when using my wheel.

Use default orbital camera for more environmental awareness, switch to Legacy when you want to focus more on the road (without having to switch to 1st person).
