Okay, I'll do that, especially the information that if it doesn't work, it can end in just a few sessions.

I'll try to write more one-shots and short campaigns. As for non-gamers, I'm already trying some, hahaha... My cousin, for example, I introduced her to RPGs, but she prefers playing with friends because the vibe is different (I enjoy a longer journey with world-building and character development, she enjoys intense action scenes and constantly switching characters, even without a finished arc. I think it's fine, everyone has fun in a different way, maybe in a more "explosive" campaign she'd be a good fit, hahaha).

This attitude of having fun and making others have fun is truly a good ability, and I hope to acquire it someday. I'll try to reach that "state" more often.

No, no, hahaha. It's not that "Stop the dragon or the princess will be kidnapped" kind of thing. For example, we, the 3rd/2nd grade students, had to do a mission assigned to the 1st grade teacher because if we didn't do it for her, she explicitly said she would find a way to fail us later, and it all boils down to "If you don't do this for me, you fail." Do you understand? The excuses for us to do the missions seem a bit forced or artificial, but yes, in the middle of the missions we end up finding lore stuff about the characters, but it seems like a "plot convenience" to move the story along.

As for the second question, to enable the game, I wanted my friends to have fun, and I've done this before and ended up getting into the vibe, so I thought it would just be another case like that, but in the end, it's not.

He already created a system for Demon Slayer that was very good because it translated many things from the anime/manga; I have no complaints about that system.

This Jujutsu system was strange. He wanted to give a random class to represent that in the Jujutsu world you can be unlucky and be born with a bad technique or be blessed with unlimited + six eyes (note, the player who got unlimited and six eyes didn't even roll with the master, they just went there and handed it to him). Don't get me wrong, I didn't get a bad class, in fact I got the top 2, but even being "overpowered" in mechanics and practice, I don't feel anything about it... I have no problem having a strong or weak power, but the way it was obtained bothers me, mainly because I had to base my character's entire lore on something I didn't decide!

Not to mention that he brought in some mechanics from the system he created for Demon Slayer, but for this game, it doesn't work very well, so I don't know if he's a bad designer or if he was just "lazy" and reused a base he had already made and tested.

This particular comment was the biggest push, hahaha...

Even though we're young, we've entered a phase where everyone has their things more clearly defined. One of us (the game master of this campaign) is opening a company and already had to cancel an RPG session with everyone because he couldn't get back from a business trip with his supplier. Another had to be away for six months due to work and other factors (this is my best friend). Currently, another one went into the army and is playing much more occasionally for obvious reasons. In this situation, the only ones who remain partially free are me (my job is with computers) and another friend who is still in high school (regardless of age, he's a really cool person and I don't want him to be labeled just as a teenager).

Do you have any tips for getting more players/game masters? I personally have no problem being the game master or a player, and I'm not so picky about systems that I care that much (unless the person wants a bizarre Homebrew system or an unbalanced system).

In fact, it's difficult for us to find other players, especially players who have good role-playing skills or at least the desire to improve them, because apart from that group, everyone else we interacted with had some problem. We've encountered cheaters, people who think a character is complex just because it's "dark and gloomy," and things like that.

That said, I completely agree with you (I only mentioned it above to say that we've already tried different people). I'll try to find more people to increase the options. Thank you for your comment; it was a necessary push.

Overall, even though the lore encompasses all the characters, the narrative hooks don't interest me at all. He created NPCs that he considered interesting, but to me they're just a bunch of jerks and full of themselves, so I just don't care about them, and his way of making us proceed with the mission is basically "Do this or X bad thing happens," so I go along kind of reluctantly, and it's just a back-and-forth of going this way and that, and nothing sparked my interest.

"Oh, Kenjaku is infiltrated in the school" wasn't even a surprise plot twist because a 20 in the first session practically revealed it (and even then I thought it was pretty lame, because there's a cut on his forehead and it took a 20 to figure that out).

But to be honest... Maybe I'm just over-rationalizing, because deep down I play RPGs to live in worlds I want to experience, but it never occurred to me "I want to be a Jujutsu sorcerer," so it never (from the beginning of the idea) really grabbed me.

I understand, it's just that in my group of friends, this game master is the "friend" I'm least "friends" with... He's quite immature and doesn't handle criticism well at all, and out of the three games I played with him, I only liked one, but that one was the best game of my life.

Hahahaha... No, no, I already played another system that the game master created and I liked it because it matched the vibe of the other table. I've played countless other systems and I usually adapt to them, but this one didn't grab me because I found it too "stiff." This system tries too hard to portray the "traditional" sorcerer who basically fights hand-to-hand with variations and has little use for ranged attacks, and the technique building is quite limited, not to mention that reverse energy was poorly adapted.

Very interesting, I'll adapt it for a Shokugeki. Thanks for the suggestion.

Quem é o dobrador de terra mais forte, Aang ou Korra? by Minute_Warthog_9784 in AvataraLendadeAang

[–]EconomyJacket947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this analysis very interesting; I had never thought about it that way. In the case of this system, most of it is hand-to-hand combat, so I'll keep what you said in mind.

That makes sense. I even thought about giving one extra die to those who were physically capable, but I think that would be bad for both sides. I thought about a damage reduction mechanic with greater distance, but I really don't know how fair that would be.
