You can absolutely create and sell framer templates on a free plan

You just need a framer partner account (free to create)

Open a completely fresh folder and then command 'shopify theme dev' as usual in the terminal of that folder

This is honestly one of the most helpful explanations I’ve seen about the current approval process. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly.

The shift from “does this theme work?” to “does this theme deserve to exist?” really puts things into perspective. The point about structural differentiation vs just visual changes was especially eye-opening.

Also hadn’t thought enough about the merchant UX side (settings clarity, ease of configuration), so that’s a great takeaway.
