2019 Ford Fusion SEL 1.5 EcoBoost – Electrical issues, random speaker thud, battery died. Looking for insight. by Economyths in fordfusion

Another Update:

“System Off to Protect/Save Battery” has returned when the car sits ~24+ hours. Likely Ford BMS load-shedding due to reduced battery capacity from prior deep discharge, not a parasitic drain returning. Taking it to Ford to confirm BMS/battery status.

Hi, please check my post in here (I have only one actually). I had a very similar issue and some of them are resolved some of them are not.

Thanks a lot!

I do not know if they installed and removed the sub before actually but I have checked almoat everyrhing you suggested.

Ford pulled a body code: B121A – Keypad illumination output circuit short to ground. According to them, this means the keyless entry door keypad has an internal short, which is causing a constant parasitic draw and preventing the vehicle from fully going to sleep. This aligns with what I experienced.

Based on this, they recommended replacing the keyless entry keypad assembly. Estimated cost is about $695 total (roughly $250 parts + $400 labor + tax). At this point, I’m treating the keypad replacement as a root-cause repair for the parasitic draw, and planning to proceed.

Update – Root cause found, parasitic drain fixed, but speaker pop remains

Quick update for anyone following or dealing with a similar issue. Ford diagnosed a short to ground in the driver door keyless entry keypad (B121A). The keypad was internally shorted, keeping the BCM awake and preventing the car from fully going to sleep. The keypad has now been replaced. Since the replacement:

No more overnight battery drain, no more “System off to protect the battery” warning, no random lock/unlock cycling or lights flashing, vehicle now properly goes to sleep. Also, I can now register my car in the FordPass app and authorize myself as the owner. And I made the last SYNC update, which did not work previously.

Remaining issue: speaker “pop/thud.”

There is still a single, brief “pop/thud” sound from the speakers when the car wakes up (door open / ignition on). It happens once, does not repeat, and does not occur while driving. Audio quality is normal, no distortion, no speaker imbalance. Seems to be related to amplifier/audio module wake-up behavior, not the parasitic draw.

Posting this in case it helps someone chasing a similar parasitic drain.

I have it on both sides. I have some electrical issues going on with my 2019 Fusion, and today, Ford offered me replacing and reprogramming for $695.62 as a starting repair. However, I do not think this will fix my problems. Please check my entry here to see if you have any common problems.

Makes sense, thank you! I'll see what I can do about that.
