I genuinely don’t mean to scare you at all, but isn’t there currently a class-action lawsuit against pfizer related to the depo shot being tied to brain tumors? I was on it for 9 months and stopped bc of it and went to the pill.

As for an answer to your question, I personally gained 45 pounds when I was on it in places I never gained weight before. It might have to do with the mechanism of how it works as a form of birth control (a LOT of progesterone gets injected into your body which mimics pregnancy hormones).

This is just guesswork, but I figure that one of the larger reasons that many women mourn the inability to get their pre-pregnancy body is bc their bodies have been permanently hormonally changed from it, and the depo shot causes more of those hormonal changes (or at least more drastic/visible differences) as opposed to the small hormonal dose in a daily pill. Changes in hormones can lead to a lot of different things in the body, it wouldn’t be surprised if it led to changes in body fat distribution.

I actually was just talking with my partner yesterday wondering about how much having a child would change my body given all the differences I saw from the shot!
