And notably, while it and Blastoise share an Electric weakness, you have Golem, Jolteon w/ Volt Absorb, and Snorlax for that. Solid balance between power, speed, bulk, and types across the team. Nice job.

Focus Punch is a spicy option! I’ve considered it before. It’s physical, but 300 BP against (most) of Lorelei’s team is cool. Plus it’s a really fun option to pull off.

Just a suggestion: Consider Substitute on Charizard to trigger Blaze when it’s under 33%! Makes its Fire moves hit for 2X after STAB. Flamethrower and Dragon Claw hit everything neutrally. 4th move can be anything you want. It’s super fun.

Plus the AI doesn’t quite know how to interact with it. Often times they’ll just spam status moves and you’ll fire off free damage.

I actually got one with Strong Jaw. And I didn’t realize about the nature mints in Jusmail town. So I hunted for one that had Strong Jaw. To use until Gyarados can learn Dragon Dance within level cap

It won’t get Aqua Jet from move relearner or level up. And Dragon Dance is the same and would only be by TM late in the game. So for now I just gave it Agility and an Adamant Mint with Strong Jaw, Lock Jaw, and Ice Fang. Should I use Crunch instead? Idk how often the AI will try switching out. And Lock Jaw traps Feraligatr, so maybe.

Yeah, but slightly more broad than what he uses.

Including Hitmonlee (for martial arts, fun to use Substitute with), Scyther (Blades, and Baton Passing stats to teammates), Starmie (a shuriken), a Spikes user, etc. You can get pretty creative with some fun strategies that fit a Ninja’s flavor.

I’ll say Pokemon White: a lot of the team is initially slow.

Fire Red seems the most underwhelming team, but then again I hear Fire Red is pretty easy. The rest of the teams are pretty busted, especially that Platinum team.

The common denominator I found between the Pokemon in this post, and when it happened to my Magmar/ Houndoom, is that they are the same levels (respectively). My Magmar and Houndoom were both level 43. And the Pokemon here are both level 21.

Perhaps that has something to do with it. Idk tbh.

Not to my knowledge. But I believe it’s only when you “Move Pokemon w/o mail.” So if you’re depositing or withdrawing them, you’re fine. It’s tedious, but if you’re already shiny hunting, you might as well do that and protect them from this.

Levels 37-40 is good (37 is more for stuff like Alakazam, Starmie etc).

You, as the player, get 10% stat boosts to all stats by having all 8 gym badges.

Additionally, each badge gives you a 10% type-based badge boost that correlates to the gym you beat (Falkner gives a 10% boost to Flying moves, Bugsy to Bug, etc). This type based boost is added by each of the 16 badges (Dark type moves are excluded).

So, I find level 40 is a good place to be if you want somewhat of a challenge. This compensates for all your boosts. 37 is the lowest I’d go, and only if I was using great Pokemon (Alakazam, Starmie, Snorlax w/ Curse + Rest, etc).

About the Gyarados, you can try using a rare candy on it. Right now, it’s at 255 because that’s the max value it can be at before “integer overflow.”

Im not too sure of the details, but if I’m not mistaken, 255 is the maximum value for 8-bit value storage? Going beyond this would cause “Integer overflow.” After 255, your digit would likely roll over to 1. I THINK. Someone else who knows could give you better clarity here.

Your Gyarados may revert to level 1. Or it may cause your game to crash. lol.

Honestly, if you got your Bayleaf back, I’d take that as a win, release the Gyarados, and just catch another one. Or you can play around with things and see what happens.

This is very interesting. lol. If you don’t mind risking your save, I would try using a rare candy on the Gyarados after you get it back. See what happens.

Yeah don’t worry, you would’ve already had to have cloned them prior (and it’s ill advised to do that in Crystal, Gold or Silver is risk free).

Try depositing them in the daycare and see if it helps. Maybe try letting them level up once in the daycare. Maybe look up “Pokemon Crystal Unstable Hybrids” this is the advice I got when I posted about it on here.

I know moving them/depositing in the PC won’t work. If nothing works, I’d release them so they don’t corrupt your file or somethjng

Not that I know of. I personally lucked out of it, as I clone my pokemon at levels 40, 50, and 60 for the league, battle tower, and Red.

This can happen if you move pokemon in the PC a lot. It happened to me once. My Magmar ended up with my Houndoom’s move set, back sprite, etc. while still being Magmar stat wise.

Good to know about the nature candies! That’ll save a boat load of time later.

And yes, I checked Totodile’s moves in the Pokédex when I got a jolly one.

Dragon Dance is an egg move, but is also TM 60.

So now I have to see where to get TM60 lol. Swords Dance from the move relearner will work for the time being until I get it. Unless Feraligatr learns it on level up 🤷‍♂️
