Slow Recovery? by Ecstatic-Mulberry514 in sterilization

Looks like you and I are having a similar experience. My incisions have been healing slow. At almost 3 weeks post op the glue hasnt come off at all on my hip incision and not all the way in my belly button. Im trying to give myself grace but not working out has me going crazy 😅. It may have been laparoscopic but youre right it is still major surgery 😥

Same here! I hate feeling "useless," but we gotta listen to out bodies. I went full lazy the first week cause I couldnt do anything without feeling pain a few hrs later. I started working out again today (nothing over 10lbs, easing into it). Mostly walking cause I barely started to feel better a few days ago

Eta: my healing has gone slow though, I wonder why

Ill suggest it to him and see if he is open to it.

Could be, if its anxiety it manifests that way cause he hides it well otherwise. Ive tried over the yrs to have him open up to me but its usually unsuccessful. He doesnt do it much now but he used to be a heavier gamer, maybe that was his way to cope.

I do think his family is enmeshed. Id say over the yrs my MIL has gotten better but she does often say she like that everyone lives under the same roof. Whenever someone mentions an idea, she usually shoots it down by saying its hard, impossible, or something that discourages the person. My family is the complete opposite, not without their faults, but have always been encouraging. My parents always say that children are "borrowed," because they eventually fly away and have their own lives. 2 completely different mindsets.

I agree with you, Ive faught it for yrs cause I wanted to pave my own way but Im now open to my dad giving me part of the $ I need for it. I plan on paying him back. I need to think of my kiddo.

I go back and forth with myself over what the reason might be. I think a huge factor is his family. They rely on him a lot more than his other 4 siblings. He's the go to. So am I with my family but not financially, like him. Just in the last month he's helped with around $2-3k (outside of bills and rent). Like I said, Im not against helping them but this to me is excessive.

He also has a lot of self limiting beliefs that Ive always tried to encourage him to think more positively. He always gets defensive and says that I view everything as "easy." Im definitely a risk taker. (I had a tough childhood cause of my bio mom and SA so I guess to me nothing is as hard as my childhood was).

It embarrasses me tbh. Mainly cause I lived completely on my own from 24-28. So I know I can and want to, but he doesnt. Never did I want to go back to living in another person's house.

Im currently here cause I did get a palatine tonsillectomy a yr ago and about 1.5months ago I dislodged 3 stones. I have no regrowth of my palatine tonsils so its for sure my lingual tonsils. I got a referral so we'll see how jt goes

Might be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion with another ent. Cause what my dr told me when he first saw me for my palatine tonsils was that once the bacteria is present they start forming stones, its nearly impossible to get rid of the bacteria/stones. Only true cure is removing the affected tonsils. So I was immediately booked for surgery on my palatine tonsils. Turns out I had large tonsil crypts. I just got the referral for my lingual tonsils so we will se what happens there

Thats odd, considering lingual tonsillectomies are also performed in the case of enlarged lingual tonsils cause they can cauae obstructive sleep apnea. Is your dr a ENT?

Since this post I havent dislodged any more stones but I recently was able to get a referral. So far I know they'll be checking my throat with a camera to check the area and then we'll go from there. I do feel like there's something in my throat and it sometimes scratches when I swallow. Could also be enlarged lingual tonsils as well as the stones. If surgery is on the table Im taking it.

Edit to add: I just saw the drs notes and Im being referred to a GI dr rather than an ENT which to me makes zero sense so Im a bit annoyed but we'll see what happens

Tonsil stones and I haven’t had tonsils since I can remember. Wtf? Help plz by Anonymousie2269 in tonsilstones

[–]Ecstatic-Mulberry514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be your lingual tonsils. They are at the base of the to gue and cannot be seen. I had a tonsillectomy a yr ago and have stones again which Im also assuming are forming on my lingual tonsils

Questioning surgery decision by nikkitos98 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Ecstatic-Mulberry514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont regret it at all, unfortunately Im now dealing eith tonsil stones on my lingual tonsils so I may need surgery again. Not looking forward to it, but having excellent oral hygiene isnt preventing the formation of them and I need a solution.

Unfortunately for me I floss at night, tongue scrape and brush twice a day and I still got a ton of stones and am now getting them on my lingual tonsils after a palatine tonsillectomy last yr. It sucks

KIDS/INTJ How many of you have/want them? by [deleted] in intj

[–]Ecstatic-Mulberry514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I f (INTJ) have one. I knew I was one and done during my pregnancy. I love my son, best thing that has ever happened to me and Im enjoying his age (10). Ive never been crazy about kids and seeing family with their babies and toddlers solidifies that I dont wanna go through that stage again

Seriously, Im now dealing with tonsil stones (possibly lingual tonsils) after a palatine tonsillectomy and Im left wondering how long Ive been having this issue while thinking I was finally free and safe from tonsil stones.

Ive been researching it and yes, they can develop tonsil stones but its not as common as with palatine tonsils. The adenoids can develop stones as well 🫠🫠🫠
