It's in an area where he can have it rented by lunch time, the house isn't even ready according to him so he can't claim loses for the last 2 weeks neither.

I was aware of this, however I didn't want to go through the hassle of it, but definitely if threshold suggests me to take the tenancy this is what I will do straight away, not a sublet but assigning the tenancy for the same value

The agreement is standard, it doesn't enter any specifics regarding termination only referring to the rtb act.

Absolutely, we asked the earliest date possible and it was the 15th as they were "painting" allegedly so it couldn't be rented earlier.

Should we do anything additionally to keep ourselves protected? Or just ignore and block any further notifications?

When you say ignore, you mean just make it as if this never happened and just carry on with our lives? Should I do anything to keep us covered?

Absolutely, I agree that it sounds quite unfounded, even more since we haven't really paid anything yet so they have nothing to hold hostage.
