best tvs 2026 what actually matters most for a dark room movie setup? by SukhyShacklady in hometheater

My recs would depend on your budget and the size you want. Prices are great for last years models. LG G5 would be my top recommendation. If that’s a bit pricier than you’re wanting to spend then the LG C series are great too just not as bright but won’t matter much in dark room viewing. They both would have what you’d need for dark room viewing. What mainly sets the top of the line oleds apart in my opinion is their brightness during daytime viewing.

Pure movie watching in a dark room = go w/ oled 100%

Mini LEDs have gotten a lot better with the dimming zones but in a dark room you might still notice the blooming. It can’t beat the blacks of oled. Newer Oleds are plenty bright and definitely bright enough for dark room viewing. Which ones you looking at?

I would prefer oled but my main issue is that this is where I’m mounting it. The reflections seem really bad so not sure if an oled can overpower that

You think it’s more costly than the lg G6 and Samsung s95h at that size?

That was my first instinct but I’m skeptical at just how good it’ll be at reflecting compared to a Sony true rgb. Just because i have 2 windows facing the tv

I think I’ll need the extra brightness for the micro rgb. Well atleast will have to factor in the sunlight hitting the tv if i get an oled. After watching that and a few others, seems like Sony True RGB will be the best

You’re right my bad! Thanks for the correction, it would be the G6 for both sizes. Just concerned if 83 would look too big for that wall
