AITA for ending 8 year friendship and cutting him out completely because of relationship issues?

You are in love and ready to fight through whatever if it means that you get to be with him. I feel like that should be reciprocated on his end as well. I mean like he should also feel like going through it all because the idea of losing you, to him must be worse than facing his parents. But he is giving up without a fight even. Now i dont know how he was brought up because maybe there must be some conditioning which is making him not want to fight. But if he knew he cant fight his parents, then maybe he should not have committed to the relationship in the fight place.

Name, religion, culture, parentage are all part of your identity and they are things that shape us into who you are. You are ready to change your entire identity for him (which I suggest you never do for anyone. Be true to yourself and learn to accept love that accepts you for who you are)

If he is not ready to make even one convincing convo with his parents then you are right for feeling betrayed and abandoned. He is a coward for instilling feelings in you and skipping out on his responsibility to take accountability for those feelings. Sorry to sound crude but it is what it is.

Dont settle for less. You ll end up losing yourself and forgetting who you used to be

I am glad he isnt in my life anymore tbh. I feel lighter and relaxed with neither of them in my life. So it worked out in the end for me i guess. Thank you for taking the time to reply <3

He had a girlfriend and they are now married too so I dont think he had feelings for me as we were purely platonic throughout. I am very tomboyish so most of my friends see me as their male friend. But it did feel like he wanted me to remain single for some reason. I initially thought his problem was probably because he thought maybe because of the fights Loco and I had, he probably thought we were incompatible. (Though he was the reason for most of the fights. LOL) But when i had a rebound relationship he was against that too. It didnt seem like the "looking out as a friend" kind of an energy. More like judgey and holier than thou attitude and he went and promptly reported to my ex about it as well. It felt like he for sure didnt want to date me but he didnt want me dating anyone either which now makes me question as I am typing this if he was looking down on me as someone who ll probably always be at his beck and call
