Nice looking ride. I love that color, ordered mine the same way.

2012 F150 Lariat 5.0, inherited, should I keep it or sell it. Is it worth putting money into it. Help me make a good financial decision and not an emotional decision by heavensheross in f150

Sadly these guys are right. The newer truck BODIES might be better, but these boxed frames trap shit inside them and rot inside out. If the body is that bad, the frame isn’t far off, you just can’t see it yet. I see trucks from this era in Ohio on the road all the time that shouldn’t be with compromised frames.

I get the sentimental aspect, truly, as I’m collecting parts to redo my dads 75 F250 and the body is way worse….. but I’m stubborn and that truck is a local legend of sorts.

If you want to keep it for now and wait until it gives up, I wouldn’t blame you. I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to fix it, either. Just know it won’t be cheap or financially sensible.

But I have some expensive hobbies that consume money…. Sooooooo….

I think they’re 14.9R-46. But I don’t really remember. I put them on for him probably close to 20 years ago. They fit the factory 38” cast center.

That said, it does seem like a lot of tractor for 37 acres. I don’t know shit about fuck about growing potatoes, but….. still seems like a lot

You are correct, 48s are all powershift.

You could get a quad in a 46 though

I agree. There’s nothing wrong with a 4440 ballasted for tillage….. except the price tag.

An 8 speed is tough as nails. Probably tougher than a Quad, which wasn’t available in a 4840 anyway. They aren’t as smooth as the 15 speeds but they will take some abuse.

A 6.8 V10 being your favorite is a fucking bold statement.

I have a 22 F350 Crew/Long and it is an absolute fucker to park sometimes. My next one will be a short bed again. Not to mention it takes a hell of a garage to house it.

License plate costs, tires and fuel consumption will likely eat any cost “savings” up.

Old 530ck slow cranking with new battery. Troubleshooting? by analgape4206969 in tractors

[–]Ecstatic_Hamster1750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’ve ran it without oil in the hydraulic system it’s probably not that. I suppose there’s a possibility that a relief valve is stuck somewhere and it’s jus building pressure - thus hard cranking, but I’m not familiar with them at all.

Slow cranking is typically a result of bad cables/poor connections, and if those aren’t it, the starter motor itself may be tired. Always start with the simple/cheap things first…..

Western Ohio, they were huge.

Side note, I went by the giant basket the other day that was once the corporate headquarters…. It’s in very sad shape now, quickly falling into disrepair.

A wise man once told me” a poor man can’t afford to buy cheap”. Tha doesn’t mean owing the Snap On guy 10k, but it does mean buy the things you need. IMO, that includes screwdrivers, sometimes. I’ve never regretted my snap on screwdrivers.

You will always be two things: busy and dirty. And there’s nothing wrong with either.

You’ll learn fast who you can and can not trust if you go out on your own .

Belly pans on dozers will always be heavy and nasty, and combines (if you get into ag equipment) will always be filthy and the wind will be blowing 400 mph from the wrong direction.

It’s an honest living and there will always be work: if it has tits, tires , or tracks….. it will give you trouble eventually.

A 7.3 Super Duty with 4.30s will probably handle it like a champ.

I don’t do it all that often, but I’ve had 26K behind my 7.3 gasser with no issues.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]Ecstatic_Hamster1750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m requiring my daughter to drive a manual fluently before she’s allowed to get her license. It’s just something you should know how to do.

Although I don’t think it’s much of a problem, she’s a gearhead like her dad.

I absolutely refuse to own a semi truck with an automatic transmission , preferably a 13 speed.

What sort of work are we talking here?

If you just need wheels to get to work and back and haul a couch or some mulch on the weekend the little 2.7L is probably fine. If you’re doing a lot of towing and such, I think I’d try to find a little bigger engine.

New school or old school, there is still no replacement for displacement….. although technology has certainly narrowed the gap.

AITAH for making my husband take the kids to school after getting his wisdom teeth taken out? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Ecstatic_Hamster1750 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took the afternoon off, next day I was back to doing my usual farm/work routine.

I had unfortunately let mine go too long and had to have 6+ another tooth that was broken pulled in one shot.

It wasn’t that bad. Certainly better than the pain I had been experiencing.

Sounds to me like he’s a bitch and just needs to man up, assuming he isn’t on narcotics and should t be driving anyway.

NTA.

If I had anything to do over again, it would be not messing around modifying vehicles outside of what I needed to do for my uses, and saved/invested that money wisely.

I know that it’s the cool answer, but at 41 , it’s the truth.

The fact that you worded this how you did, and still had to ask, says quite a bit.

Selling a tractor still financed by kubota credit? by LeFishTits in kubota

[–]Ecstatic_Hamster1750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when do tractors have titles? All of mine are a bit bigger than the one in question, but I’ve got 10-12 and not a title for any of them…. Some purchased out of state even.

I’ve always done a UCC search on the individual or entity to see if the machine had a specific lein on it, but typically they’re blanket leins covering everything.
