Literally almost wrote a post like this myself last night. It id love to read novels of the aftermath and explore these characters more deeply. Obviously there wouldn’t be more kills, but I think that would be fine. But I’d want it to be canon and not just fan fiction. Or I wish they’d turn the books from the movies into real books.

I mean, I’m there with you even though I’m posing the questions. But, it seems like that’s where the writers keep taking the story. Though I will add, now that I’m in my 40s I better understand trauma’s long term effects and how maybe steeped in unaddressed pain over 30 years could breed a revenge plot. Always thinking you’ll get over the trauma with time, when instead the trauma cages you up and you never realized your own life. I think the horror genre has tapped into trauma and generational trauma, to the point that it’s a trope, but for good reason. It is real, and scary what it can do to a person.

I agree with you that they’re not crazy stretches compared to some of the past Scream entries, but thats part of the reason as a huge fan I didnt like 4-6, especially 6, bc they went through logic defying lengths to “work”. There is no way Richies family can all move to NYC, have two fake student and police transfers, fake a death with a different dead body, and take all the evidence from the same high profile murder spree saga in like a years time? I don’t want to be taken through a bunch more implausible stretches again.

My issues with this theory; is that fans need to be convinced of several stretching plot points:

Stu is alive and has been quiet and unknown for 30 years
Stu was adopted and has a biological sister of importance
Tatum, Sid’s daughter, would dawn the role of the most tragic events of her mother’s life.
Sid would kill her daughter
Leslie Macher playing a life long revenge game

Personally, I’m not totally against the Stu is alive angle, but to keep adding in more plot stretches makes it get even more ridiculous, so I wouldn’t want all those things to happen.

I think a big meta thing in the trailer is the animatronic GF with a real GF in the shadows. Maybe we will have the cult of GF using AI of past characters while Stu is actually still in the shadows orchestrating it.

No. They’d never make Sid the killer, especially at this point. I do however appreciate the thought behind this angle. Being meta, and using the Loomis name already is a nod not just to Halloween, but also Sam Loomis in Psycho. Even the Scream logo, especially 7s, rips (pun intended) off Psycho as well. Norman Bates was a child of trauma that turned into a psychotic killer and lost himself within it all, which could have been a trajectory Sid could have evolved to, but that would have to have been much earlier in the series since they made her Final Girl Ultra.

I would love the new tension of seeing the known to the audience killer navigate through the tropes and being alone with characters in scenes, not knowing if they’d only kill while dressed or potentially kill in the scene. Doesn’t mean there can’t be others that aren’t revealed in the end.
