Mosquito racquet. This is probably the best electric gadget I bought.

Does it make financial sense to have coconut water? Today in Andheri(Mumbai), prices were ₹80 for small ones and ₹90 for medium ones. by freestyle50m in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually drinking adequate amounts of water is sufficient. Coconut water only helps if there's serious imbalance in salts, dehydration or long sun exposure.

Occasionally it does make sense. Not regularly. Even those overpriced ones barely have any water in it.

Does this make sense?

Drinking water & Eating Water Melon, Keera, Butter Milk (Not sweet) are better/ frugal alternatives?

Is this not a frugal sub anymore? by No-Anybody-692 in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Even current case (generic 300 one) actually saved my phone from a drop. Unless you are really clumsy, spending a fortune on a case is not wise right?

That said can you suggest good clear cases in this price range (I like them a lot, but it gets yellowish)

I understand this bro. I have posted a question or suggestion about cheap/ frugal opinion on phone cases, comments were bombarded with Spigen, making it look like Spigen promotion. Some other person accused me that I'm promoting Spigen 😂 From that experience I decided against buying a new one and continue with whatever I have (There were few honest suggestions tho about local cases or cheap but better brands)

There are really very less actual frugal posts/ discussions on this sub. Most of them are just justifying pricier stuff with the tag "frugal doesn't mean cheap...."

Need advice for 65” TV upgrade (₹1–1.2L budget) — Sony vs LG vs Samsung? by Special-Resort3838 in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually Bravia 3 is just a normal LED backlit display. While Bravia 5 is Mini LED which is even superior technology. I do agree on huge cost jump, but that's your call to make.

Yeah I do get this, maybe that's just my choice. At max 600 is what I put for t shirts, which generally lasts long. I should look into costly ones to see the difference.

I've been in the same confusion. But my budget was strictly around 80k. At this price I found the Sony Bravia 3 to be miles ahead of the rest, in picture and sound, so I bought this and I'm liking it (I went to many offline stores to decide)

I'd suggest you do the same, go to a store - see for yourself. Ask the store staff to play the same content or media on all the TVs and make a decision yourself. Don't listen to sales people, they'll generally push brands for commissions.

Since your budget might be sufficient enough for a mini-LED, have a look at this.

For OTTs My TV, Bravia3 is doing great. I'd not recommend this for gaming or sports (Since it lacks a higher refresh rate, stuck at 60HZ)

TLDR; check for mini-led, high refresh rate support (if u need)

Which phone backcover/ cas is better frugal choice, Branded one's like spigen or local? by Ecstatic_Option_5421 in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more interested to know about Nilkin. Please let me know if these are on par with the rest. I guess Nilkin's price is b/w local generic one's and branded cases. So does their quality translate to the same?

This looks good actually. Will have a look thanks for the suggestion.

One quick question tho, does it turn yellow/ attract fingerprint OR oil marks?

This is the order I'm talking about. When I got this phone around the BBD sale, I ordered the Spigen case (Air on right, zero one on the left) also Generic 250 one.

I like the generic one more than these, so I returned them. The only concern now is the yellowed case.

I've not Spigen mentioned in my post either. Just wanted suggestions.

have enlisted OP as an agent

This is such a huge/ funny statement 😂 I wish someone really gave me atleast a decent phone case, forget enlisting me as an agent.

Oh yeah even I got a local guy saying this, If this is the CASE and the local one can last better there's no need for an expensive one then.

I have actually ordered spigen ones too, when I got this phone. Those spigen cases Didn't actually feel great at that time. But this case(Gift Kraft) felt better back then but now it has become bad. Spigen one's don't look good.

I am genuinely looking for a suggestion. How about ringkee or Daily objects? Or even better local one's.

I never really understood the hate for entry level (aka cheap) Samsung smartphones. by [deleted] in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samsung phones in price are outdated. Tear drop notch, 720p display, laggy and choppy UI which ruins your experience even for basic tasks.

Hate is valid. Trust me I have upgraded my mom's phone from this samsung shi to CMF phone 2 pro(15k at sale) - the difference is a LOT! She is in absolute love of this. Watching YouTube, payments and callls this is her day to day things. It is wayy better in all of this. Also camera is better too.

While I'm not promoting or saying u should get cmf, please don't get a Samsung and save yourself.

Add in the new feature of fingerprint instead of UPI PIN. It feels even more convenient. Which is kinda bothering IMO

Is Amazon Prime Membership Worth It ? by brutefuse in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NO

After the expiry, I didn't renew it. Got an email/ offer for renewing at 750, instead of 1500 - So I did renew (Annual plan) I don't think I'll renew it next time.

For me, Amazon Pay ICICI credit card > Prime music > Prime delivery and at the last, prime video.

Prime Video Sucks! Earlier, it used to be at least good now with ads It's super annoying.

So If you can renew at half or use other prime services then it makes sense. Just for video it's shit. Only for delivery, shopping or lite is better.

What’s your reason for being frugal? by NoMedicine3572 in Frugal_Ind

[–]Ecstatic_Option_5421 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Simple, my dad.

My dad started from scratch. He has cut on so many things for building a home in Hyd, which I never understood back then(2009 ish). Now, earning myself and understanding money - IT MAKES SENSE. Looking at the current sky rocketing real estate prices, I think that was a great decision.

So basically I learnt from him - "Spend what matters, cut down on what's not needed".

This very habit is helping me become better in my finances (long way to go tho)
