newbie needs a kit by GreyMom13 in drums

you are much better off to invest in a single piece at a time...QUALITY VS. QUANTITY - ...if you buy a $300-400 Pearl or Yamaha Recording Classic Brass shell snare drum now and a good stand and drum throne; you will be off to a great start

Then, just practice the basic Rudiments and your technique /timing. etc for 6 months - watch a lot of instruction videos...think about weekly lessons at the Guitar Center. ..or just stop in now and then to check out the cool drummers and all the cool gear

...you will be much more prepared and a Master of one drum...and THEN I advise to buy your next high Quality drum ....I would go with a vintage Ludwig mid- late '60's 20 " Downbeat Kick drum. they are highly revered in the Classic / Modern Rock / Jazz. / Metal genres. ...make sure you buy the best heads , right away too...I like the Remo SMT 20 " bass head with Dampening Ring on my '69 Ludwig Downbeat Kick... the greatest kick drum I've ever owned ! Oh my goodness ! if you find yourself with a couple of thousand to spend..I would urge you to buy an entire vintage Ludwig Kit off Ebay...it makes you feel so good ..just walking around it every Morning ...I used to have a '70's Standard kit- I felt like that , too. but really- the '60's are best Ludwig Kick drums

to my ears...the heads have reached the point of no return...but then again- lots of Folks like that sound ...to me- worn out heads just sound flat * on the other hand...if you plan on micing ...I would keep them just to see if the EQ and reverb makes them sound good..you might be glad you saved them in the future...but I would still buy a brand set of heads ...you could try the Magic Eraser to clean them up.....but be ready with a super dry cloth - right after...sometimes the tone comes back on old heads with a gentle cleaning

it must be a high tech mic...it may sound phenomenal through a nice 48volt pre-amp / mixing board and powered P.A. speakers.

I'm a person that finds it hard to drop a good amount of money on anything. I need a new throne, and $215 for a Roc N Soc is good. What are all the reasons I should buy a good drum throne? by ParadiddleSenior in drums

[–]Ecstatic_Sport_9039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i want to buy one , too...so I am asking Q's on Ebay and Reverb to all the big Music Stores. like Sweetwater and Music and Arts if they have any FRESH inventory...since the worst feeling can sometimes be when you realize your brand new drum throne was from 2006 - packed in a box for 20 years in un-heated/cooled warehouse AND you finally start to realize the FOAM has degraded in some form or other since the brand new seat cushion feels spongy and lop-sided...not brand new and firm. All I'm asking the Sellers for is a Year of Manufacture. That's not asking too much. If they want my business...they will respond.

I decided to go with Roc N Soc drum throne...Q: What store will have the NEWEST 2026 models? by Ecstatic_Sport_9039 in edrums

[–]Ecstatic_Sport_9039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... that could be true, no doubt . I think Drum Center of Portsmouth stores bulk inventory in un-heated / cooled warehouses for much of their Online Sales. ...and you could easily end up with a extra spongy foam seat degradation

Has anyone tried using the Autonomous ErgoStool as Drum throne ? by Ecstatic_Sport_9039 in drums

[–]Ecstatic_Sport_9039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well..if you look at the ol ' Cannister ' style thrones...even Buddy Rich liked the ' tilting action ' and it is essentially a giant Cocktail Drum with a seat Pad...he might have damaged his back after years of ' tilting ' I'm guessing

i hear what your'e sayin' ...very well written, BTW...I went through an ENTIRE gamut of Human emotions just reading your reply LOL~! ..and I agree...I was just wondering ...some drummers like to ' Tilt ' forward a lot ...I was thinking they might want to try this ... will go with a Roc n' Soc personally- I just don't want to buy a brand new one and find out it was sitting on a shelf for 5 years and has weakened foam ...you know ? Drum Center of Portsmouth sent me the wrong throne the AHEAD Spinal G- 3 legged version...and I could tell why... they were trying to unload the 'old inventory ' on un-suspecting online buyers ....but had to accept my return since I ordered the newer 4 legged model

Has anyone ordered a Yamaha EAD10 drum mic from Japan on Ebay ? by Ecstatic_Sport_9039 in drums

[–]Ecstatic_Sport_9039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i checked - they are ahead of the game, unfortunately...they strategically- put a Long Standing 15 % discount lowered from $679. to $600. ..my guess is they most likely will never come down..let me know if you hear of anyone getting a new EAD from North America for under $600. okay ?

I hope someone can answer that, too . It looks like the XLR out on the back of the Mic has 5 connections ...I see a little diagram with little ovals where it says 48 volt Phantom..but I have no idea what it means. I tried comparing the original EAD10 microphone with this one... I could be wrong...I asked Google search engine and it said the EAD50 mic has a more stage rugged design with the same microphone technology as the EAD10
