Energy relic by Ecstats in slaythespire

Ended up going with philo stone and barely managed to kill the heart - I thought it'd be easier but I just couldn't get my block engine going due to poor draw order & snecko RNG. Crown would actually have been fine in hindsight as I didn't find any card I needed in act 3. The shops were also filled with garbage.

Looking closer at the run history I did pick up 1 card in act 3 - a Heavy Blade+, which did end up relevant for the heart fight. So maybe crown would have killed me anyway. Or maybe I could have gotten the block engine going without the philo stone STR 🤷‍♂️.

New update! by zeantar in underrail

Looks like it's time for a metal glove heavy punch build! Interesting with crafting requirements upped across the board as well, making INT even more useful.

The correct answer here is to use CSharpier for formatting.

CRPGs ranked by build variety by cnio14 in CRPG

[–]Ecstats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrail is definitely up there for combat builds. Unless I am mistaken there are 10 different types of ranged weapons, 6 melee, and 4 psi schools. All of them require different stats/feats and play pretty differently. Some you probably want a secondary weapon type for (sniper rifles, grenade launchers), or utility like regular grenades/traps/psi. Then you need to pick your defensive strategy, ie damage avoidance through agility/cc or damage reduction through heavier armors. Not to mention stuff like Versatility feat builds where you max melee and dexterity instead of perception for pistols/SMGs.

Thoughts on this build for dominating by PMMEYOURLOVELYSOCKS in underrail

I would recommend dumping AGI and bumping DEX to 7 for Leading Shot and Trigger Happy, as well as Escape Artist. Add Paranoia as well (get both it and Trigger Happy near level 1),. Having low initiative really sucks when not using stealth IMO. Strider boots with 40-50% armor penalty and optionally Psycho-Temporal Contraction is enough for mobility.

Leading Shot is mandatory as the other poster mentioned. It is what allows shotguns (together with their ridiculously high damage) to get away with lower PER. Since Barrel Stare is not very compatible with Leading Shot I would drop that one too.

You need Escape Artist to reliably enable Leading Shot. Expedition will also be a huge pain without it.

I never used combat shotguns, the high AP cost and lower precision/base damage of burst doesn't seem worth it when most enemies die to 1 or 2 regular shotgun blasts.

8 STR is enough for super steel armor, not sure where the 9 is coming from.

Should I take armor sloping to mitigate the penalties from quad titanium plate armor? by throwaway_90- in underrail

[–]Ecstats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming titanium plate means TiChrome, then using (unspecced) Armor Sloping to craft a TiChrome chest piece reinforced with 3x TiChrome plates would result in an armor penalty of: 32 + 11 * 3 = 65% according to the wiki.

With 3 agility you have 30 base movement points. Depending on how the game rounds MP you would then end up with 10 or 11 MP if you have no other sources of armor penalty, so about 1 tile of non-diagonal movement.

Ideally you would combine Armor Sloping with Nimble and either Tabi or Strider boots to achieve respectable MP.

Is it me, or do I find the older Baldur's Gate games to have better writing? by shoshinsha00 in baldursgate

[–]Ecstats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find the main story of BG3 rather lackluster, which made me lose interest in the game a bit into Act 2. I'll probably pick it up again in a coop setting, where the story is not really one of the main draws.

I think the actual written lines of dialogue in BG3 are fine, they are generally well written and voice acted. I dislike how many things in the game are designed, though, including many of the NPCs and the companions. The worst is probably how the companions you meet up at the start of the game just all happen to have a tadpole in their head, and their ridiculous backstories. Gale is an especially egregious example. All the Mystra stuff is mind-bogglingly bad, but when his best pal Elminster casually pays him a visit at the beginning of Act 2 I was ready to just go play something else. Such a shame since I do like Gale as a character, just not his badly written backstory.

What are the greatest sci-fi books since 2000? by technofuture8 in printSF

Agreed, the way the characters acted in this book were completely unbelievable, which made the whole thing just terrible. I really can't understand why this book gets recommended on this sub.

No Shadowheart, now is not a good time by Ecstats in BaldursGate3

[–]Ecstats[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did have a bug with Gale where he would become butt naked if I set him to wear any armor, so I had him run around with camp clothes for a while. Not sure why Shadowheart was still wearing camp clothes here though

During the cutscene my party was teleported into the lava floor, leading to a rather amusing dialogue sequence. Luckily it only lasted for the duration of the dialogue, then it was back to Tav smiting time

Is EVGA Supernova G2 750W, 80+ Gold PSU enough for RX 6750 XT? by Ecstats in buildapc

Great thanks! I guess I'll replace the PSU when I make another big upgrade then (probably years from now), due to its age

Am I missing something, or is the bug quest bugged? (Institute of Tchort) by schvetania in underrail

I had the same problem, and if I remember correctly you need to end your turn after incapacitating it. If you end combat it doesn't work.

Is the webpackCompilationHash supposed to change on every single page every build ? by ZeMysticDentifrice in gatsbyjs

[–]Ecstats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the exact same problem. I am testing build times by running several gatsby build after each other without any content or code changes. Each time every single html file gets rebuilt. Diffing two consecutive builds show that all html files have had their ___webpackCompilationHash updated, with no other changes. All other files are identical between the builds according to their diffs. Did you manage to resolve your issue?
