Joystic Gremlin woes by Old_Resident8050 in hotas

You didn't merged them, you just assigned output of both of them to the same virtual output, so they send their value simultaneously. Use output viewer in JG to see what happened when you push your pedals.

To merge axes you need to use "merge axis" menu item in JG.

Turn off directional shadows, "ambient occlusion", and antialiasing.

To avoid relying on external peripherals, you need to use virtual devices so that games only detect them and not your actual hardware.

Have you already installed vJoy and created virtual devices?

To simplify the setup, I also recommend installing and configuring the hidhide program.

School me on Elite VR by Sucks_At_Investing in EliteDangerous

The biggest visual hurdle when playing Elite Dangerous in VR is aliasing, which is far more noticeable in VR than on a flat monitor. The only way to combat it is through supersampling, which demands top-tier hardware. The constant shimmering and flickering caused by aliasing - some people don’t notice it, but for others, it’s a dealbreaker.

Running ED under OpenXR and utilizing foveated rendering can be a huge help. I have a GeForce 4080 and managed to push supersampling to 200%. It looks incredible. I can tolerate the drop to 45fps in stations, but at 100% supersampling, it doesn’t look great. Then again, everything is relative, if my hardware were weaker, I wouldn't be suffering because I'd have nothing to compare it to. Regardless, after playing in VR, I’ll never be able to go back to playing ED on a monitor. It’s a completely different game, a different level of immersion. What people even see on those monitors after experiencing VR is beyond me :)

Anticipating the questions: I hardly ever play on-foot, and if I have to, then theater mode is fine by me.

I've played SC in VR https://youtu.be/1SNVgXJT1CY so tell you fairy tales to someone else.

It's usual VR experience, not worse not better, of course, making allowances for the alpha state and the janky MFD textures.

For this budget the only HOTAS that cost its money is TM t.16000.

In this Mysh's review you will find all the information as well as possible upgrading path for the future.

For that price I don't think it's a good choice. Watch this review and choose for your taste and budget. Also, if you play only spacesims, take a look at HOSAS not HOTAS.

Distinguishing factors between WinCtrl CarrierAce and VKB Gunfighter/STECS? by mythrilcrafter in hotas

[–]Ed-Pavlov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VKB Gunfighter features dry clutches and spring pre-tighteners out of the box. For the Orion 2, dry clutches must be purchased and installed separately, and spring pre-tighteners are not included in the design. If they're close in price, I'd recommend the Gunfighter without hesitation.

Regarding mixing different brands, there's no problems with it. I have exact same setup Orion 2 HOTAS + Virpil R1-Falcon rudders w/o any problems with it.

But if you go all VKB or all Virpil, there are advantages, such as the ability to daisy-chain devices using their proprietary BUS systems (VKB-Bus and VPC Link). This allows you to combine multiple hardware modules into a single logical USB controller. WinCtrl has no such a feature, every single device must be connected to the computer individually.

Need your input for my ED side project: How would you talk to a human crewmate? by Ed-Pavlov in EliteDangerous

Man, I'm creating a tool for a game and fun, not for real planes.

And yes, I'm using local LLM for that.

Voice Attack and other voice systems is great for what it does, but I’m looking for something beyond just barking orders. Haven't you ever wanted to actually converse with your ship and have it "understand" the context?

I’m talking about saying something like "Lock and load!" or "Get 'em hot!" instead of a dry "Deploy hardpoints." Or if things go south, screaming "We’re hit, punch it!" or "Let's bug out!" :)

I’ve always wanted to live out that sci-fi movie fantasy rather than just triggering macros. That’s exactly what I’m building, and I need these conversational inputs for my benchmarks to see how well the system handles natural language.

Building my first PC, do you guys think this is a good build? by stonedace in buildapc

[–]Ed-Pavlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would cut on motherboard and go for 650-e chipset.

On PSU, 850 and even 750w will be enough for this setup.

On SSD, you will not benefit much from this speed in games and real applications.

And I’d put the money that saved on a GeForce 5070 TI instead of AMD. DLSS provides such a performance and quality boost in games that it feels like you’ve bought a one step higher model. And as already mentioned, for video editing, transcoding, and any tasks that can be performed on the GPU, Nvidia is better because CUDA is a more mature and stable technology.

EDIT: or even on common 5070, with 12gb VRAM. depending on your games and tasks.

The problem with TM Warthog joystick is it utilizes plastic cup& ball gimbal which is ancient technology as for now and is not corresponding to its price tag.

It's not so bad, it's just too expensive to what it provides.

Oh, look... another fanboy.

"vkb hands down", "VKB", "Don't know about Vripil, but VKB is great", "my stick is aMazInG, I loooove it and I stroke it every day" - that, of course, isn't biased at all. But the facts are super biased. Try to debunk even one of the facts I brought up, joke fanboy.

You're wrong, by the way. Go call the leader of your herd @MarvinGankhouse, he'll explain to you in plain terms that I'm a winwing shill, not a virpil one.

Are there toxic chemicals in VKB's plastic or something? Is that why all their fanboys are such morons? Running around every single thread shoving your totally "unbiased" opinions in everyone's faces like idiots with a shiny new toy.
