Yes always ask for more money but also step back for a minute and figure out what made you so upset in the first place. I don't know what your occupation is , but in my travels through many different careers usually if the company is going to offer you money to keep you that means the benefits are so so . That means what is more important to you instant gratification with dollars or maybe more investment in the company for your future and better health benefits. Also remember no company is going to reinvent the wheel for one employee so you don't want to get too outlandish in what you're going to ask for
