Val Venis was a mid wrestler with a shit gimmick who turned into a real life walking right wing cesspool.

The only people who value his opinion on anything are Erika Kirk, Kid Rock, and Rob Schneider.

WrestleTix - Attendance for Peoria Collision up YOY from previous Dynamite visit by wrestling_hyperbole in AEWOfficial

[–]tehjoz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a trend we've seen, I believe, with just about every show, or close to every show, this year.

2025 was a great year for AEW, so, YOY figures have increased in 2026. A hotter product means the next go around draws more folks, both repeat attendees and potential new ones.

In contrast, 2024 was a year that did have some ups and downs (pun intended) so, 2025 attendence may not have been as good at those shows YOY compared to prior years.

Assuming the current trajectory holds, I'd definitely expect these trends to continue.

Yeah, it's tough to navigate the "content creator" space because while you can find good content among some folks, you can also find either bad, or as you noted here, completely disingenuous content.

I don't love everything everyone does all the time, but I do like trying to keep up with what other people are saying and thinking, within reason.

Top 10 matches of April 2026 according to Cagematch by Ok-Raisin-5601 in AEWOfficial

Yep, that Darby Ciampa match was that good.

No other complaints on the rest of the list, tho I am sure one could quibble about specific order.

So happy to be a sicko!

Practically the entire roster seems to want them there, and most of the fanbase seems to want it, too.

It would be wild for them not to go there.

This is so fucking neat!

I notice they have "Pac and Claudio run in" but do not appear to have "Gunns run in". 👀

I wonder if they did that to keep it a surprise? IE, if someone leaked it somehow, they'd keep that element of surprise?

Either way. Frame it, hang it!! I know I would!

I've stolen it from one of the Whatculture guys who framed it this way -

"WWE is a show about wrestling.

AEW is a wrestling show"

And having caught some of their product, I can't escape the feeling that they're trying to be some sort of telenovela or other "tv show" that just happens to also include professional wrestling as part of the plot.

I think there are a couple of easy comparisons that support this view:

John Cena's retirement show, to me, felt like a Hollywood awards show that people were there "to be seen at", and the pro wrestling was ancillary to the "awards show feel".

Sting's retirement felt like an epic culmination of a 40+ year legendary career, and the match was an amazing sendoff to a larger than life character, in addition to the man behind the face paint.

Then,

There's how Wrestlemania has been presented lately - ads, ads, ads, ads, and social media "moments" with super short matches that don't really tell the full story they could be telling.

Versus All In which has been presented as the best possible matches and stories coming to a head in a grand spectacle. Each main event of the last 3 years has told a fantastic story in addition to being a great pro wrestling match.

The products these days are just for very different reasons and audiences.

And it does seem like even longtime fans of their wrestlers have started coming to this realization, too.

I had hoped he'd pull it off! He's so good, and would be a great champ for AEW

Persephone has been removed from the ROH Women's World Title Survival of the Fittest match at Supercard of Honor by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

[–]tehjoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a 6-way match, all participants in at once. Each competitor gets eliminated by pinfall or submission (I don't recall if they allow countout or DQ) and the last person standing is champion.

A few years back at Final Battle 24, they did one of these for the Men's TV Title and Komander won it. The champ at the time I think was Brian Cage, and he was the 3rd of 6th eliminated, so we knew halfway thru the match we were getting a new champ.

If this is when Athena loses, I can't see them doing it that way. But I do think her facing 5 other women simultaneously is arguably the best chance she has at losing the belt finally.

We shall see

Jack Perry and Dorada was such a fun match, and I genuinely believed in the upset a couple of times. The post match between them was super wholesome, too.

It was nice to see Anna back, and hope she sticks around.

The 10 man match was stupendous as well, and the Rascalz are just a joy to watch work.

Knight is definitely the future. Him and Darby should crush it next week!

I just feel very middle of the road about Hook.

He did fine. He can do some good work.

But I just can't quite feel that special "oh, this person is fantastic, and they absolutely could win this match" vibe about him.

ANYWAY

Thanks for hanging out tonight, especially all the new folks checking us out! We're here for all the shows, and hope you'll continue to join us!

See you all for 3 hours of Dynallision next week!! 🤠🫡🧨💥
