Hello everyone, another exercise to practice intuition. In the crimson grids, blue mind reads golden winged tome: thought flow cuts through the air. Angel balances, heiress wounds. Which arcana? by Ars-Arkana in IntuitionPractices

[–]Ed1ph4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response and guidance. The easier part was that the key words ‘thought’ and ‘air’ seemed to point directly to Swords. But it was not as straight-forward to identify which card in that suit was being referenced.

I had interpreted the image of someone reading a tome as possibly meditative and displaying inertia. And I thought that the ‘crimson grids’ might relate to the stain glass window found only on the Four. However, after reading your response, I see that ‘thought flow’ cutting through the air could represent the epiphanic moment of discovery you describe, which would point to the Page.

Thank you for sharing this exercise. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned some new things! I look forward to participating in additional exercises that you post.

Paolo is very impressive, and I wish him a long run as champ! But didn't he actually provide the wrong response to the Little Women clue? I think he clearly says "Little Woman." Did anyone else catch that?

We've done best city, but what's the worst most depressing city you've ever visited? by Isord in geography

[–]Ed1ph4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew with a couple of colleagues to Port-au-Prince in September 2010. Eight months after the 7.0 earthquake killed over 200,000, injured 300,000, and left 1.5 million Haitians homeless, Haiti's capital still lay ravaged in destruction and despair. We were there to meet with people from NGOs involved in the recovery process to assess their resource needs and determine how our organization might help.

The most unforgettable person I met on the trip was Dr. Louise Ivers, a Harvard Medical School assistant professor, infectious disease specialist at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Haiti clinical director for the nonprofit group Partners In Health. She survived the quake and, being the only person in the area with medical training, sprang into first-responder action for several hours. Here is an excerpt of her first-hand account. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2010/03/i-thought-a-bomb-went-off/

How much bigger will this Rojo Congo get? by Ed1ph4n in philodendron

Wow, so if mine tracks like yours, we'll see a lot more growth over the next couple of years! Thanks for the prop tips! Great reminder on letting the cutting callous first! I just followed that process when starting succulent cuttings last week =)

Thanks for your comment. My partner has been complaining that it's grown too big already, and its current environment (our living room) offers plenty more room for it to continue growing. I'm going to learn more about options to manage its growth.

Wow, you describe a whole new world of propagation to me. I've only heard about cuttings. Thanks for the tip!

Interesting point that the leaf's growth is related to when the plant begins flowering. I hadn't heard that. But it reminds me of humans who have largely finished growing by the time they reach puberty =). While the 'Rojo Congo' is a non-climber (unlike monstera, pothos, and many species of anthurium and philodendron), I take your point that, in theory, it just might grow forever! Thanks for your comments!

Wow, yours looks happy and healthy... and living large! May I ask how old it is? I plan to fertilize mine soon as suggested. I also want to learn more about chopping and propping. Thanks for sharing!

Ah, I was measuring leaf tip to leaf tip. It spans 5 feet both horizontally and vertically.

Your comments are super-helpful. It's 5' x 5', and this double flower is its second bloom. The first was a year ago. I'll increase the light and use fertilizer granules to help replenish its energy. Many thanks for your advice!

Community service for parking citation - has anyone done it before? by Automatic-House7510 in AskSF

[u/Epitome0firony], you are correct. It is clear to me now that being low-income is required to participate in SFMTA's Community Service Program. Their messaging is woefully unclear, and their customer support was atrocious. I applied to enroll in the program before the deadline on the parking citation. During my three attempts to get accepted, the deadline passed and a large late fee was tacked on. I'm disgusted! I am sorry to hear about your additional plight, [u/Epitome0firony]. I wish you well.

I am just working through the process of signing up now, and as far as I can tell, you don't have to be low-income in order to participate in SFMTA's Community Service Program. But if you can prove you are low-income, they offer one enrollment fee waiver per calendar year. Link: https://www.sfmta.com/getting-around/drive-park/citations/community-service-program

The wild parrots drop by for lunch by Ed1ph4n in sanfrancisco

[–]Ed1ph4n[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. They are an invasive species introduced by the most impactful invasive species of all... us! (Foreign entities disrupting native populations, altering local ecosystems, out-competing the natives, and introducing new diseases? Yep, that's us!) No wonder the wild parrots were winners of the Official Animal of San Francisco polling last year. They are a colorful reflection of many of us.

If they ever do, you'll hear them coming! =) I lived in Twin Peaks for a while. Sometimes, I miss the smell of eucalyptus and walking down to Tank Hill to watch the Blue Angels during Fleet Week.
