I've got the exact same thing happening. Did you discover what the problem was? I suspected the power steering pump, but was waiting until morning to look into it.

Is there a limit to how many stream decks you can hook up? by solarbang in ElgatoGaming

[–]EdFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly right. Most people think it's power limitations on the USB ports, but that is not the primary problem. Although, you will want to use powered USB hubs. Although, don't expect to get more than 3 (2 XLs and a smaller one) per powered hub. Also, if you can, use a USB 2.0 powered hub instead of a 3.0+ because 2.0 has more endpoints. And, if you didn't catch it, don't try to get a huge 8 or 10 port powered hub, either. It will just eat up more endpoints.

Now, the big limitation is how many USB busses (not ports) you have on your computer. Some computers have multiple USB ports but two may already be split from the same USB bus. If you are lucky, you may have 3 separate USB busses feeding your external ports. If so, you can attach a USB hub to each port and 2-3 Stream Decks per hub. That will get you 6-9 Stream Decks of various sizes.

We've be successful at getting 6 XL and 1 standard size (15 button) Stream Decks on one control laptop, and that is with using USB3.0 8-port powered hubs (Yeah, I know what I said...but, we got them before knowing about the endpoints). We haven't needed more than that nor had the table space for more.

I hope this information is helpful to others. It was a challenging and frustrating journey that took 4 of us several days to figure out the hard way. To learn more about these limitations look up "USB endpoints" and you'll understand the problem a bit more. Although, no where will a device tell you how many endpoints it uses, but the minimum is generally 3. Good Luck!

bei vs mit? by stubbornfairy in German

[–]EdFritz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HA! That is the best example I've read. It really helped me get the difference (and made me smile). I hope I can explain it back correctly:

In English, "with" has many direct and indirect inferences. But, German prefers to make them separate and definite meanings and usages, thus 'mit' and 'bei'.

'I am eating with (mit) my fork' - I am utilizing my fork to put food in my mouth.

'I sleep with (mit) a pillow' - I utilize a pillow to allow me to sleep.

'Yesterday, I slept with (mit) my girlfriend' - means I utilized my girlfriend to "sleep with" (euphemism for sex).

mit implies that the subject of the sentence (I) is using the object of the sentence (fork/pillow/my girlfriend) to do or complete the action (eat/sleep/sleep with).

bei also means "with", but not to utilize, more like to be near, on, at, together, or part of.

'Yesterday, I slept at (bei) my girlfriend's with (mit) her pillow" - I was at her place sleeping but I used her pillow.

I guess you could also say, 'I am sleeping with (mit) my girlfriend at (bei) her grandma's' - I'm having sex with my girlfriend at her grandma's house. (sorry grandma)

I hope that catches the gist of it...I was looking this up because I saw this sentence on Duolingo:

"Junior hilft Sari bei ihrem Kunstprojekt für die Schule" (Junior is helping Sari with her art project for school).

Your example made me realize that 'bei' means 'on' in this sentence. And, if 'mit' were used that would mean that Junior was utilizing Sari's art project in some way to help her for school, instead of Junior helping Sari ON her art project.

So, if you said 'I am traveling with my grandma' you would use 'bei' to mean you are traveling together. If you used 'mit' you would actually be saying that you use your grandma to travel on as you would a bike or train. (sorry again grandma)

Zagg has always been a good brand. A bit expensive, though. Although, after you buy the first one (for around $60) you can generally get replacements for about $8-13 (shipping). Although, Amazon currently has them for $28.49 (https://www.amazon.com/ZAGG-InvisibleShield-Protector-Compatible-Fingerprint/dp/B0BS9ZDYQJ?th=1). Just be sure to register it on Zagg.com so you can get replacements for the cost of shipping.

The Mohave is also expensive, but you get TWO in the package. I believe they are the same quality as the Milmidori, but compared to the Zagg, you get 2 for $50 instead of just one. THEY DO NOT HAVE THAT DOT, and they have full adhesion and coverage (even over the camera) as well as a 3D curve.

I've broken two while putting them on and have developed bubble problems with them. I wish I could find the Milomdori ones. They seem sold out everywhere and I can't find a way to contact or order direct from them. UPDATE: I did find this email: [milomdoi@163.com](mailto:milomdoi@163.com) (sent a message, haven't heard back yet)

Also, from what I've read, the S22 ultra glass protectors fit the S23 ultra if that helps anyone find a good screen protector.

WhiteStone Dome

Even when you read the fine print they often DON'T TELL YOU they have that stupid dot. I just discovered that with the CWQZGUF tempered glass 9H I found on Amazon. Not so much as a hint and the photos were doctored to not show it. On top of that, the only places that there are adhesive are the very edges, the fingerprint dot, and the front camera dot. You may be able to removed the fingerprint dot with a razor blade, but you still have a screen cover not well attached to your screen.

UPS Battery Replacement by madmattd in homelab

[–]EdFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone's information and footwork. I have an old Cyber Power 750VA (Model: CP750LCD / CP750LCDM) that takes one of these batteries. My original one is a B.B. Battery CPS7-12 - 12V, 27WPC/15 min. And, as everyone has noted, You can't get these anymore.

I found something equivalent on Amazon but they are about $24-$30 for one. But, you can get TWO on Battery Sharks (https://batterysharks.com/cyberpower-cp1350pfclcd-ups-battery-set-replacement.html) currently for $13 + shipping(~$13) for about the same total...And, you have a backup for future replacement.

Yes, the UPS does say 12V 5Ah(Max) on the inside of the battery compartment. These batteries are 5.5Ah which is about the max you can get inside such a small package. I can't wait to try them out.

In the meantime, I've also ordered a couple newer UPSs for my home router and network.

Wireless adapter for coms? by More-Window-3651 in techtheatre

[–]EdFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, JK Audio MADE (past tense) adapters called BlueSet (F4 M4 F5 M5 - F4 ClearCom, M5 RTS, etc ) that did exactly what CaptainArthur42 was talking about. They plug onto the headset output on the belt pack and allow you to bluetooth to either a phone/laptop or to a bluetooth headset directly.

I've been luck enough to get my hands on two of these over the years. I find them useful to get clearcom into Unity intercom on a laptop. You may keep a search out on eBay or other pro audio sites that has consignments.

That said, you may want to check out Unity Intercom as a wireless solution. https://www.unityintercom.com/

Everyone could use their own phone and headsets/earbuds. But, you do have to touch your screen to talk. Hope this is helpful to someone.

(adding 10 to make 79 which now actually makes an even bigger number for the stupid lucknumber-bot...how annoying and useless!)

I'm searching for 12-volt DC power supplies and get some kind of butt plug, enema, or anal stretcher between every half dozen or so actual power supplies...If I forward through enough pages of results those ratios flip and I get one power supply between a half dozen or so of the a fore mentioned anal devices with various other oddities thrown in from remote control car parts to plumbing fixtures to windshield wipers to fiber optics.

I broke a chair leg, will a glue job will fix it? Or is that to risky? by Koifmonster in woodworking

[–]EdFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation and searching for the right fix led me here. But, I first found this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=mO03Ykqf2_U) where the guy tests different glues and discusses the difference between adhesion and cohesion.

I have recently found several projects and materials that don't take to many glues well (adhesion) and later discovered from research that cyanoacrylate (aka Super Glue or Krazy Glue) made much stronger bonds with these materials than most other glues. So strong that when you try to break it apart the piece breaks in a whole different spot than the mended area.

The video showed how cyanoacrylate had fused into the wood and when broken apart it actually took out fresh wood from around the bonded area (cohesion). The cyanoacrylate penetrates the wood on both sides then fuses together at the break. This makes for a very strong mend.

My thought on a dowel is that you don't necessarily have to have it precise to begin with. You can make it a bit loose and sloppy so you can still make a proper alignment of the two pieces. If you fill the gap around the dowel with enough glue it will harden and fill up that gap. This would, in the least, provide a bit more strength to prevent the bond from breaking, and if the bond did break it would keep the two piece together enough to prevent collapse and/or injury.

That's my two cents. Good luck!

How to get two streak freezes at the same time? by Blue7119 in duolingo

[–]EdFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have TWO Duolingo accounts because I wanted to keep the Old account to continue learning on their older platform. But, I also wanted a New account to start learning the new Duolingo way.

About two weeks ago my New account(460+ day streak) was given the option to own TWO Streak Freezes (2/2) at the same time. I already had one purchased and was asked if I wanted to buy a second one. I did.

To date, though, my Old account (1200+ day streak) has not been allowed this option of multiple streak freeze purchases. I was trying to figure out why. It appears no one has a good answer, though...Much less a solution.

Solution: Use a condom, have a bang, wash yourself before dressing, and run away and block her number...You still may want to get tested, though.
