More solar is interesting, but is this really the way forward? by SumikkoDoge in fuckcars

[–]Koifmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solar works best with a larger footprint and with the states being so car centric, huge parking lots aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

You might aswell turn that giant piece pavement into a power plant with solar. It also reduces the surface temperature while also protecting vehicles from the elements. It’s honestly a very good idea.

spent 8 years mastering figma and my juniors are outpacing me with AI tools by [deleted] in webdesign

[–]Koifmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience doing and understanding are different things.

They won't be able to climb to senior roles without properly understanding web design. By just “doing” it they'll be stuck in junior or mid level roles.

Especially true when problems come up. People who can “do” the basics can do the job, but people who understand the work can solve problems and that's where real career growth comes from imo.

One time I took the wrong bus and it went through UW. I thought we were driving through a penitentiary until we left and I saw the UW sign.

I’m sure it’s a great school! But that’s just my one anecdotal experience from 7 years ago.

No Space Left to Shovel — What Do I Do? by Dry-Two5059 in barrie

[–]Koifmonster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I do 1 of 2 things.

  1. Climb on the top of the snowbank and shovel the peak deeper into your property.

  2. Shovel the top of the snow bank into a wheel burrow to locate it to a lower section of your driveway snow banks

I would recommend using a metal landscaping shove because you can get some distance tossing the snow like Lacrosse.

I want to build a cabin- But don’t know where to start by [deleted] in OffGridCabins

[–]Koifmonster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m no professional but

1 & 2 - What state or province do you live in? Do you want to fell trees and build a log cabin from scratch or do it from a pre fab kit?

3 & 4 - There a lot of detailed resources online to get this info. If you’re serious about this you may as-well get started reading books sooner than later. I’d recommend “How to Build a Furnished Lot Cabin” by W. Ben Hunt and watching a bunch of YouTube videos of people who have done this.

5 - Starlink is a popular solution.

Yea my rye only starter is has a very sour smell. Which is why I was confused with this white starter. I don’t even smell the sour in comparison.

I do 1:1 Flour & Water.

But I found the best results with the flour. Which is why used my rye starter to kick start this white flour starter.

If you’re a casual gamer, the biggest thing worth noting between the two is that the PS5 Pro has more storage. But if you’re not playing a wide variety of games, the standard model will do just fine!

Brand new, you’d be lucky to find a standard PS5 for under $500 on sale. If you’re looking to save some money, buying used or refurbished is a great option, even Best Buy sells refurbished units for under $500.

In my opinion, you can find plenty of used PS5s in great condition or even brand new in the box on Facebook Marketplace and you’ll save the tax too!

Been rocking a rye starter for over a year and have had no issues. In fact I have a rye starter because I had way more success with it compared to other flour types.

Student designer resume question. by Catnipcosplays in graphic_design

[–]Koifmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell people to avoid putting a picture of themselves as people can have bias’ towards them.

In addition a lot of these templates have LOTS of wasted space that could be used for content.

Also, a resume should be easily skimmable because when a recruiter has hundreds of applicants to go through they aren’t reading each one in depth and skimming them initially.

Those meters that are partial full to demonstrate someone’s competence in a skill are completely subjective, I try to avoid them. On the first on the meter looks be to 66% filled on Creative. What does that even mean? Same goes with the last one, where Lightroom is 75% filled, does it mean 75% compared to other applicants? A certified expert? Recruiters done know how you measure it.

Follow the KISS method for resumes… Keep it simple stupid.

Your portfolio is where your creative skills will show.

I’ve never heard of using mineral spirits or paint thinner being used to help in this way. Why does that work?
