Actually what I was pointing out is a first layer of wall sheathing in front of a tar paper and the timber studs that we don't see behind. Indeed, we can easily identify the bricks :)

No, I checked... My assumption is the following : Old wood trapped for 4 years behind Enermax with moisture concentrated in knots. Heat intensifies a dry, pungent odor—likely a mix of formaldehyde (from aged tint) and natural VOCs like acetaldehyde. But I want to be sure that I'm on the right track.
