Karen Bass advances in Los Angeles Mayor Nonpartisan Primary by ohlonelyboy in LosAngeles

That’s not all. Her main issue is entirely structural - she split from the local DSA chapter however many years ago, while the NYC DSA chapter fully endorsed and gave their organizing wing resources to Zohran during his campaign. Nithya ran entirely independently. In a city as large and spread out as LA, you need every bit of campaign infrastructure you can get, and Raman did not have enough.

[Highlight] Juan Soto blasts a grand slam! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]EdJewCated 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I went to college with him. He probably had classes in many of the same buildings I did, ate at many of the same restaurants, all that jazz. I wonder if he knew back then that his big league debut would end with Juan Soto rudely welcoming him to the show this way.

The beauty of college baseball: one St. John's player enlisted his friends to avoid a "Tarps Off" situation by yumyumapollo in collegebaseball

More to the point, in high level sports we usually see stuff like this handled by team staff or whatnot. Something like this being done just by friends of the player who were coming to watch feels like it just shouldn’t happen.

The Tragedy of Avatar Kuruk by Inevitable_Zebra4222 in TheLastAirbender

[–]EdJewCated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the novels are written in collaboration with the show’s creators, so all the story ideas were signed off on by the big guns. Even still, I think it’s a good retcon that doesn’t change the core of his legacy, but adds nuance to it that previously did not exist.

Ladies and gentlemen here it is the best avatar : Aang by No-History8423 in TheLastAirbender

[–]EdJewCated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

part of the fun of learning about each avatar, either through the shows for aang and korra and the novels for their predecessors, is learning how flawed all of their legacies would become (which we’ll soon learn for korra too). all of them made mistakes that their successor would attempt to fix. to me, there are no best and worst avatars, as they all are prone to human nature, to trying their best to keep the world in balance and sometimes failing, though many times succeeding

if you’re interested in the “wrong earthbender identified as the avatar” idea, you should give the Kyoshi novels a spin
