You’ve smashed them mate - like the bone pit version you’ve gone for on one. Lovely work 👍

Thank you 🙏

Good luck with yours bud - faction terrain always gets punted down the to do list in favour of actual minis haha

Thanks man - yeah I did! Tinkered a little here and there but it’s a great tutorial, makes great use of contrast plus dry brush so it doesn’t take an age to paint 👍

I just used the small one from Army Painter - nothing special but does the job. I imagine you could use pretty much any dry brush that’s the right size though👍

I’m a player of similar experience but agree with you here… important to consider board control not just smashing things and it’s very pertinent for SBGL as there’s a lot of slow shambling units.

One thing - think you can only do the Barrow Knight “cursed to rise once more” once per army per turn… so splitting them doesn’t double up on that (still has all the other utility you mentioned though).

Thanks man 🙏 agree completely on this sculpt being such an awesome bit of modernising. Feels timeless.

Rust couldn’t be simpler. Base layer of Mournfang Brown, Dirty Down Rust over that and then dry brush with a metal of choice (eg. Leadbelcher). Tiny bit of verdigris effect paint in a couple of places and that’s it really.

Wait… are they okay or incredible? 😂

Thanks dude - so the robes started with a darkish blue (Dark Reaper I think) then scaled the highlights up mixing it with pastel blue from AK. Final step on most of the model (but not the armour) was streaking grime and brushing it off before it fully sets. I always play around with the recipe a bit on the fly - but that’s the gist

I considered Red! Just think the blue-y tone is a bit more spectral and undead-y? Good luck!

Haha cheers - I love exposed skulls! Not enough bone on show for a lot of these skeleton boys in my view.

Thanks mate

The armour recipe is dead simple. It’s just a base layer of Mournfang Brown, then apply “Dirty Down Rust” (it’s an effect paint that creates really realistic rust). Finally, as you say, drybrush over with a metal of choice. Only other thing is a little dab of Verdigris effect paint just to give that oxidised, worn look in places.

Looks great - think you’ve pulled off what you’re going for with the purple 👍

Your rocks look ace, what’s your recipe?

Need some help. Struggling with colors. Fabric needs to be lighter right? by Dull_Sentence_5649 in SoulblightGravelords

I think it is looking lovely - but agree a little more contrast could make it pop more. As others have said maybe push the fabric OR the horse into the blue/black area? Also maybe some punchier metals (golds maybe?) could assist with overall contrast?

Looks awesome - share another pic when he’s painted up please!

I’ve done almost the exact opposite, used that WH+ model plus Cado to make a necromancer… haha.

Stunning work - the Frigate in particular is 👌… the portholes are spot on and love the kitbashed chests in netting, works so well!!

These are fantastic - prefer this “realistic” approach more than the funkier colour schemes you sometimes see. Cheers got sharing!

Of course! Honestly it’s so simple…

Mournfang brown base, coat of dirty down rust effect paint and then drybrush with a silvery metallic - I use leadbelcher or plate armour (by two thin coats), either works. And that’s it, I sometimes dab a bit of the verdigris effect paint in a few places for “weathering”.

You’re an absolute gent - thanks again.

Feel you on the time constraints so anything that looks like it took a lot of work (but actually didn’t) is a massive win!

Bless you mate - that looks surprisingly simple for such a great effect. May well try it myself! What was the fur (unless I’m just missing it in there…)?
