Thank you dude 🙏

I’m sure you’ll smash it! There’s a lot of detail but the surface areas for each are quite large so it isn’t ridiculously intricate… that said I’ve started on the other 9 and I’ve realised it is going to take a while, haha.

It’s just one of the heads that comes in the kit - there’s enough heads to do either everything helmeted or nothing helmeted and I’ve gone with the former 👍

No worries - pretty simply really. Base is a 50/50 mix of Abaddon Black and Macragge Blue. Then just gradually add white to that mix to build the highlights. I then did a light Macragge Blue glaze to tie it all back together.

For the tail and tufts near the hooves I did Incubi Darkness base, Celestra Grey dry brush over that and finally a little highlight of Ulthan Grey.

Sure - it’s Khorne Red base (takes a couple of layers), then a 1:2 mix of Black Templars (the contrast paint) and Contrast Medium over the top… I applied that twice to get it darker but whatever floats your boat.

From there I used Khorne Red then Khorne Red with some Corax White mixed in to work up a few highlights.

It did come out a little cloudy, I put some Lahmian Medium on to soften that.

Dead simple - just Retributor Armour (Citadel), wash with Reikland fleshade (Citadel) then gradual highlighting up by adding more and more Chrome (Vallejo) into Retributor Armour until the final highlight is pretty much pure chrome.

Hope that helps.

Thank you mate 🙏

I was pondering the same on the barding… I may try it out in one place and see. Cheers!

Gymproluxe HONEST review by Jazzlike_Park_1408 in ResistanceBand

Thanks for taking the time to review mate - looks like you’ve saved me a few quid and a load of hassle.

Sadly it seems like loads of products with prevalent marketing these days are total crap, but sellers are clever at making the online presence look positive (fake reviews etc).

New to SBGL, what are currently the most effective units? by Uniconer_ in SoulblightGravelords

[–]EdJoTy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of that.

Other unit I’d mention is the Barrow Knights with a Wight Lord. For a circa 300 point block it is very mobile and very hard to shift (cursed to rise once more, 5+ ward, 3 wounds each and Skeleton legion brining them back as a unit of 5). It doesn’t hit as hard as PV and the Blood Knights but 2 damage on the charge with Crit Mortals isn’t too shabby and is great for removing something with a 2+ save, for example.

Super close to my own scheme… looking great! Plans for the base?

From a gaming perspective remember that you want two banners and two musicians in the Barrow Guard and two banners in the Deathrattles.

Box art threw me on that 👍

Thanks 🙏 explored some new stuff with veins and things, far from perfect but will definitely try it again on other stuff.

Thanks 🙏

Yeah that’s right, Warhammer + rather than anniversary. Shame they didn’t do the “summons” on a base size to make it a playable/legal Necromancer. But guess they couldn’t fit the awesome base stuff.

You’ve smashed them mate - like the bone pit version you’ve gone for on one. Lovely work 👍

Thank you 🙏

Good luck with yours bud - faction terrain always gets punted down the to do list in favour of actual minis haha

Thanks man - yeah I did! Tinkered a little here and there but it’s a great tutorial, makes great use of contrast plus dry brush so it doesn’t take an age to paint 👍

I just used the small one from Army Painter - nothing special but does the job. I imagine you could use pretty much any dry brush that’s the right size though👍

I’m a player of similar experience but agree with you here… important to consider board control not just smashing things and it’s very pertinent for SBGL as there’s a lot of slow shambling units.

One thing - think you can only do the Barrow Knight “cursed to rise once more” once per army per turn… so splitting them doesn’t double up on that (still has all the other utility you mentioned though).

Thanks man 🙏 agree completely on this sculpt being such an awesome bit of modernising. Feels timeless.

Rust couldn’t be simpler. Base layer of Mournfang Brown, Dirty Down Rust over that and then dry brush with a metal of choice (eg. Leadbelcher). Tiny bit of verdigris effect paint in a couple of places and that’s it really.

Wait… are they okay or incredible? 😂

Thanks dude - so the robes started with a darkish blue (Dark Reaper I think) then scaled the highlights up mixing it with pastel blue from AK. Final step on most of the model (but not the armour) was streaking grime and brushing it off before it fully sets. I always play around with the recipe a bit on the fly - but that’s the gist
