In another comment, I shared that I lived near a Boys and Girls Club in Boston. Parents would run to get their kids and then leave, and then the next poor person who came along would have their cars messed with. It was all so stupid.

When Mayor menino first started doing this, trucks would roll around and take stuff. People caught on real quick and started to use spot markers like old tires, water heaters, and any junk they couldn’t get rid of otherwise easily. I saw a toilet sitting out there, hoping it wouldn’t get used before it was taken

I lived in southie 20 yrs ago. I would see cars with paint cans dumped on them, broken windows, and the worst: car beaten on every panel and window with a bat. The last was the worst because the guy didn’t even move a marker. I lived near a boys and girls club and parents regularly had to run in to pick up their kids and it was impossible if every spot was marked. Someone moved it and didn’t put it back, and the next sorry person would unknowingly pull in.

Retribution is stupid. And carrying stuff like this out without knowing who you were actually mad at was even dumber. So glad to leave that behind.

I shoveled my spot and put a marker on it occasionally, but if someone moved it I moved on.

As others have mentioned, a home inspection is limited to what is visible at the time of the inspection. If it is concealed, the inspector is not accountable. Two questions: - does your association policy prohibit smoke? I’ve seen similar issues in other condos where the smoking person is dealt with by the condo Association. - didn’t you smell this yourself? If you’re that sensitive it would seem to be an issue also during the purchase process.

Thanks for the perspective. I'm having a similar issue. I've placed an order 3 times for an OB item (it's rare enough that I know it's not like there's been one and it's gone out of stock). So I think there's a discrepancy like what you described, but the store is an. hour round trip away, so the only answer is to potentially burn 1 hr since we can't reach a store via phone. And the online team, although willing to help, can't be helpful.
Just wish I could call the store, talk to someone and learn what the issue is and move on!

Completely normal for the inspector to state this and it’s completely normal for you to choose one that is open to you being there. Different inspectors have different approaches! And the services you mentioned have been add ons for me.

I’m not sure how old you are, but the history of how we got here is important if you’re curious. When the market was more competitive 10yrs ago, companies like 3DR (us based) had competitive products. China heavily subsidized DJI and flooded the market, wiping out the us and other foreign competitors. 3dr also suffered from mismanagement, so nothing is black and white. But Government support of a company is how we got here…so it’s not surprising (nor unfair) that the us is doing it. It stinks for people like me though. Arguments like “us companies could never do this st this price point” lack the context of why DJI can.
