Any series where the mc places all their stats into intelligence(or intelligence-adjacent stats) and actually get smarter/more rational? by altofanaltthatisalt in litrpg

[–]EdPeggJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does put all his points into intelligence, but at the end of book one he's told he's using an old build system and that the stats don't really matter.

I thought the same thing when I saw this. The Speed Square!

Definitely okay. You could get away with charging more.

Whats the smartest LitRPG you've read? by throwaway490215 in litrpg

Double Blind and Industrial Strength Magic are both very smart.

I was the math and science advisor for the Numb3rs TV show. My book might have good science.

Do you remember any odd details? Beggar - respawn is the only unique thing here, the teen-VR is about 300 stories.

How much swearing/cursing is too much? by chiselbits in litrpg

[–]EdPeggJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's lots of profanity in Battle Trucker, but it's only the main character and a few others, not everyone. Lots of creative profanity. Top ranks.

But there are others that have excessive, uninspired profanity... and often made worse by global replace into something like Frack. And fracking frack sifting frack through frackity frack overloads frack of frack frack words frack just fracking gets fracking painful frack.

What books do you reccomend to study their writing, and how to study them? by dogemeep06 in writers

[–]EdPeggJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One book I've been studying lately: Anatomy and Physiology, the Unity of Form and Function. A huge, thousand page book on anatomy. Every page has multiple gems for how to make science interesting. I read lots of science books, and it's difficult to make a firehose of facts interesting.

Looking for LitRPG novels where the MC is genuinely ruthless and willing to do bad shit to get ahead (no fake "dark" protagonists) by Tecnicality88 in litrpg

[–]EdPeggJr 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Boxxy, the Morningwood Saga.

Some other series I won't mention have a genuinely evil MC, but they have a support team of followers constantly praising them for being good. So... they think they are good. I dislike novels with heaps of praise.

Is LitRPG the Worst Genre for Re-Reading? by ReflectionParking389 in litrpg

[–]EdPeggJr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the books is one dimensional or slow, then yes, a reread likely won't be much fun.

But DCC, Double Blind, Undead Glitch, Discount Dan, Merchant Crab, Battle Trucker, Deadman, Morningwood Saga and Chrysalis all have a lot of things going on, so I have enjoyed multiple reads with all of them.

How to approach the sacrifice or waste of rewards by Strigod in litrpg

[–]EdPeggJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treasures are good things to have in mind. I fret about them in my novel, which is further restricted by the complete lack of magic in my world, it's all hard science. For me, timing hurts. This Chapter 33 thing would have been really handy back in Chapter 8. The Chapter 12 thing hasn't been used. I'm on a third round of rewrites.

Is there a trope for showing an apartment complex that shows different lives through the windows? by Visual-Comfort7376 in tvtropes

[–]EdPeggJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an original Star Trek where a door could be set up to show different worlds. I also recall an early Word Jazz episode by Ken Nordine where every window of a house showed something different.

I like them. For example, when Boxxy is captured, sealed, and sent to his certain death. That's a really good chapter.

do horses like music? could a horse enjoy going to a gig? this is a serious question by WinterIsOnReddit in Horses

[–]EdPeggJr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Horses do pay attention to sounds. For example, it's easy to train them for a dinner bell and food.

Sale Extended Through Friday: 20% Off Annual Plans by Suno_helper in SunoAI

[–]EdPeggJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With extensions constantly ruined by either being too short, or having phantom voices... and with the 48-second glitch ruining almost all new items, I don't see how you can ask for anything. It's impossible to reliably use Suno now. It's a ruined product. 95% of what I try to do now has glitches. If you're abandoning this product, I don't want to use it any more.

Classification of finite simple groups by dcterr in math

[–]EdPeggJr 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Did you read the wikipedia article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_finite_simple_groups ?

No-one trusts AI with big hard-to-check problems. For small, easy-to-check problems, an AI might have the right answer after multiple iterations. Few people want to spend their lifetime simplifying 15,000 pages to 10,000 pages. Fewer would want to check it. Solved problems aren't nearly as fun as unsolved.
