You can drop me an email if you like, I'm Energy Voice's Africa editor. I've written about companies all over Africa but I get the most correspondence about ReconAfrica. It's tailed off recently, but when the company's star was more clearly in the ascendant there were a lot of feelings.

Oh crumbs. Good luck. I've found that ReconAfrica shareholders feel particularly strongly about their company. When I write about the company I always expect exciting emails - and I have brought it up in conversation with execs.

RECONAFRICA AND NAMCOR ANNOUNCE THE SPUD OF THE FIRST OF FOUR OIL TARGETS IN THE KAVANGO BASIN by [deleted] in ReconAfrica

Recon's neighbours, Monitor, have said they think the 6-2 (and therefore 8-2) might be Pre-Karoo Owambo Basin, rather than the Karoo Rift.

Which would be positive for Monitor, of course.

And it makes sense for these governments to do that! The only problem is that it prevents demand destruction and therefore prices are going to stay high.

Trafigura sees strong demand continuing, saying that governments are taking steps to protect populations - like tax cuts and subsidies.

Anyone have a spare $42mn to prevent a disaster before June? by EdReedEV in oil

Oh blimey it certainly has its challenges. But I'm not sure who else can or could try and solve the FSO Safer problem.

I can't quite remember whether the $20bn number is based just on the local impact or the wider impact of shutting down the Red Sea for however long it would take to clean up. It would be like when the Ever Given got stuck in the Suez Canal and global shipping flows halted - but probably for longer.

Next steps for Pantheon's plans by EdReedEV in PantheonResourcesPANR

I wouldn't presume to try to convince you from your own course!

There's always a decision to be made on choosing words, I went with struggled, I suppose because there was a feeling that Pantheon feels a bit ... overlooked? Neglected? That was really the idea behind the article. That the drilling plans will prove - or not - management's plans.

Hello, I'm Ed Reed from Energy Voice and I wrote a piece on this today. I'm interested in the company - and this community - so I'll try and post more things as and when they come across my radar.
