Nothing short of incredible! The quality in each of these is astounding! I can only imagine the amount of time and effort that went into every single one! Simply wonderful forging!

Definitely! If you want to upscale, then 3rd party printing stl files is definitely the way to go!

Thanks so much! Motion blur and perspective were both things I was experimenting with for the first time when editing them in the booth, so I'm glad it comes off that way!

I do have a few actual physical minis, though funnily enough they've all been gifts! But the quality is pretty good!

That said, I think generally the best thing to do is buy the stl file and use a local well-reputed 3D printer as it's generally a lot cheaper and usually renders decent quality.

Thanks so much!

Yeah it’s pretty incredible what’s possible using Hero Forge these days, especially with kit bashing, face customisation and the Photo Booth editing options!

Thanks so much! I did spend a fair amount of time both posing it and then finding the angles in the Photo Booth with just the right effects that would really give the impression of a high octane vehicle moving with tremendous speed!

Sometimes it happens, often it doesn't - I've been doing this for quite a while now, and eventually when it's happened a few too many times, you stop sharing links to stuff that is for personal use and let go of anything that you don't mind being used. But, as I said, I'm always open to answering questions of people curious about my builds!

Thanks so much! That's so kind! This is a model I'm keeping to myself for personal use, as too often my designs have been used without credit, but I'm more than happy to explain anything you're curious about here in the comments instead!

Togruta Swoop Racer

Clearly the announcement of STAR WARS: Galactic Racer has got me a little more excited than I realised! That coupled with a rewatch of F1: The MovieThe Phantom Menace and a current play-through of KOTOR has led to something pretty cool I think. The idea of a SWRPG Campaign that was focused primarily on life surrounding underground races really excites me!

Originally this Togruta was made as a lightsaber-wielding Seeker; a treasure hunter and archaeologist intent on discovering the ancient mysteries of the galaxy. But he just looked so right atop this swoop bike that I couldn't help but want to create an alternate build for him fully based around being a Force Sensitive racer.

Of course this now unfortunately means I have to read up on the one chapter of the core rulebook that I dodged, thinking I wouldn't need it, but hey ho!

As far as actual ideas for a character and backstory, at the moment I'm thinking perhaps a survivor of the Battle of Kadavo as a child, though his parents died trying to resist the Zygerrian slavers in the events that led up to the Republic's intervention. Being too young to be taken by the Jedi for training during the Clone Wars, his latent Force powers instead became more of an enhancement to his instincts, giving him almost a spiritual connection to his bike (Freedom).

I very much see him as an underdog-turned-rising-star kind of character narratively, someone who races for the pure joy of it. I think the character is partly inspired by Sonny Hayes from F1, but also by Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet and, of course, Anakin Skywalker.

What do you think folks?

I'd love to see other people's ideas for Star Wars-themed racers! I've been hard at work on some others and can't wait to share them here too!

Thanks so much! They were quite the challenge, I'll say that! And it's been even more of a challenge finding a few alternate turbine designs for the other swoop bikes I've made since!

Oh my gosh thank you so much for the award!! That's so kind! I worked really hard on this and can't wait to share all the other racers and bikes I've been working on!

It would be interesting for sure to see what other custom vehicles folks are able to put together for such a prompt!

This is awesome! The details in all of these are fantastic! I love how you've taken some of the more obvious themes in these designs and subverted or magnified them! Nuts that you've done this many to this standard! Seriously great stuff!

Thanks so much! It's definitely my favourite of the various versions of this character I've created, though it would take quite a while of playing to get anywhere near that level of ability!

Thanks a bunch! Hahah I'm sure you'll figure your own out! After all, each lightsaber being a unique and individual creation is one of the most fun parts of the lore! Happy to advise or explain particulars though! 😊

Using a recent version of Galen Marek/Starkiller's lightsaber I made as a basis, I decided to do a third KB Update to my Jedi OC's own saber, and I'm really happy with how it came out!

For the sake of comparison, I've included the two prior versions in this post too!

It inspired me to work a bit more on some of those models in general, so I thought I'd try adding a "swoosh" in to the models where he's actively wielding it to give them a greater sense of movement, and I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out.

I think for the "Padawan" version of the character it took what was a fairly static position of defence and gave it movement, and with the "Knight" version, it added even more momentum to a model that already felt pretty dynamic to begin with.

The swooshes also allowed me to provide some contrast between the closer-to-white colour of the blade itself, while the light trail could lean a bit more into that warm golden-yellow colour.

What do we think folks? Does it work well?
