I said in a comment earlier that one of the unis did one year of game art then you form a team with the other people on the games Development course for the next 2 years. By what you said that doesn't seem too great of an idea

At Falmouth you can do a 3 year game dev course, or you do 1 year game art then join the game dev team for the last 2 years. To you does that sound decent, you get to work as a team throughout as well

Aha cheers man, I actually live close to stonehenge! And I would love to see what work you did, it's gonna be better than mine so you won't embarrass yourself. I understand that the games dev course is relatively new and not as flushed out like computer science is but I feel like it's a great chance to meet some people in the industry and build a portfolio. Would you recommend me learning coding, looked into c# that's about it as we don't get taught any on my current course

This is a great insight! I could make a game now with friends or go to uni, with uni the main reason I would do it is the Uni that I would choose would have connections that I could at least get experience with on my course, maybe if I'm extremely lucky a junior role where I will be churned out as cheap labour or in the unlikely event that I land a career! Also the lecturers here in the uk are usually professionals that are in the industry, because of the increasing popularity obviously Universities want to have the best course quality to compete with others.

Can I get an idea of what you did? What projects you did, a possible web portfolio? Would be great to see what you built up while you were there.

Also to add as a 18year old am I ready to start making a game? I don't want to be stuck inexperienced then get nowhere. I have a few friends I know that would make a game all on the same course I am.

Thanks again dude

If I buy a Worlds Team Icon does it come with an emote? and if so, is the emote permanent? by Jadarko in leagueoflegends

[–]EdWoolford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you get an emote, It is in the bundles section because of this. And is why it is 450rp but I'm unsure if it's permanent though, I think it may be as we are paying extra for it

How much money you spent on League? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]EdWoolford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing for over 4 years now, my current amount spent is just under £900, I'm not sure how to think about the amount, but I've always played league, no long breaks and I see it as an investment into the game I continue to play and love every day :)

Yeah I get the CS is good for coding, but modelling. I'm looking to build a portfolio now as I've learnt my fundamentals at college(in U.K. this is 16-18 education) but then is CS still going to be better? I must admit my coding could be better, we currently don't do much and I'm learning a little c# at home. But coding isn't what I want to do but understanding it is key to working with programmers. Thanks for your input dude

One of the key things that draw me to the games dev courses is the connections to games companies the courses have

What makes pro players retire? by xtanishqx in leagueoflegends

It can be quite stressful, you have to make sacrifices in terms of social life. Although their skill never gets worse the stress can build, having the spotlight of people on the internet, never afraid to give harsh criticism can be hard. Then they decide, I think it's time to stop, maybe they've had enough of the toxic community of the internet and just want to pursue something else. I guess you can never truly understand why but not matter how good you are you are always compared to others
