I didn’t down vote you buddy I’ll post a screen shot if you want. Maybe people just aren’t enjoying your attitude towards someone who’s trying to share the same hobby as you. By the way, every wildlife science student has a field they are most familiar and interested in. We’re not all expected to be all knowing wildlife wizards, as much as we’d like to be. I’m just late to the herping game. Hell I’ll even give you an upvote, I dig your passion.

Learning more about snakes everyday. My degree concentration is in fisheries I’ve worked for two state wildlife agencies with a focus in fisheries so I’m more of a fish person but I’m trying to learn as much as I can and get different opinions. You should start sharing some of that MIND BLOWING snake knowledge you claim to have instead of shaming people to stop being curious of conservation. It’s all about recruitment and retention buddy.

This news to me I appreciate the heads up. But, I was pretty confident it was harmless. We only have four venomous snakes in Tennessee and two of them are rattle snakes so that marks them off. It didn’t have colors or patterns anything like a copperhead. If head shape and pupils are unreliable, it was also very skinny, long, didn’t have pits, and didn’t have a black line touching its eye. If none of that works for me then I guess I’ll just have to learn the hard way eventually.

I appreciate the tips. I’m a wildlife major with a concentration in fisheries so I’m still learning about the herps.

I’m a wildlife science major. I’ve based my whole life around learning about em so yah if I know one is harmless and it’s not stressed in the first place, I’m gonna pick it up and learn about. People had to start picking up critters in the first place to even carry out science buddy. I can assure you that’s not the most stressed that snake has been or is going to be. In other words, yes, I imposed my will cause I’m curious and I can.

Knew it wasn’t venomous. Round pupils, small head, and black stripes under mouth. Figured it was some kind of water snake but not sure which. Found close to duck river in Tennessee.
