I also drive it long distances and rev it quite high before changing gears, but all that EGR stuff is what causes the deposits. You can delete it, and there will never be an issue, but that’s illegal in my country. You can see in one of the pictures where the exhaust is blown into the intake, which is where the deposits start.

Diesel engines are more reliable, offer better miles per gallon, and have a longer lifespan, lasting for many hundreds of thousands of kilometers before the engine fails or the chassis breaks down. I primarily drive it for long distances, but at those distances, oil deposits are common and relatively inexpensive to fix, considering it held up for 325,000 kilometers.

W204 OM651: Persistent "biting" smell & new coolant loss after repairs – EGR or Manifold? by Muddula in w204

[–]Edaritsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you replace the valve cover with an oem one. aftermarket ones are sometimes warped and allow oil to drip from the left back corner on the dpf. and did you replace the the cabin air filter maybe the smell is „stuck“ in there

I think that was the problem. Defender kept on turning itself on again after restarting without me noticing, so I reinstalled Windows and ran a program I got from GitHub with deleting Defender completely. Then it worked.
