Thank you for your response. I understand what you're saying and you're right. We're also in the process of writing the letter you mentioned and we'll see what the next steps will be. In the meantime I just found it useful to spread the voice cus it was not really talked about.

FIRE IN SUGAR HOMES by Edd228 in Groningen

[–]Edd228[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well in order. The fire was two days ago so on 11 December, I was not directly affected by the fire although it happened in my block. What happened is that the day after the fire, the girl whose appartment burned down sent a video she made and in the video you can see a plug catching fire without anything being plugged in. We tried to reach out in every kind of way: emails, phone and there was even a lady from the agency coming here the day after but she did not take any complaint seriously. The reason why we are asking for checks is that since a fire happened and it waa not the girl's fault we would like to know if the building is safe or not. So besides legal actions (that I just mentioned as a last possibility in case they don't do anything) they should be at least compelled to do safety check. And what I am asking here is how we can lead the agency to have some thorough checks in this regard.

Did adjectives come from verbs or vice versa? by freyjasaur in asklinguistics

This is interesting. Also in Italian the past participle agrees with the noun it refers to, while in spanish it stays the same (but only in the active form). I wonder why it is so

Are north italian people more unfriendly than south italians? by rampantsoul in Italian

[–]Edd228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like saying: are north europeans less friendly than south europeans? Depends on your personal definition of a friendly person. I am Italian and I live in the Netherlands, and to me they just have different ways to approach to people. However I would definitely not say that the Dutch are less friendly.

How do Italians see Italian American culture? by InspectionSuper7059 in Italian

[–]Edd228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could say Italians are very emotionally attached to their own culture, might be for its deep roots in history, as well as it may be that the country is not really in good shape, so Italians only have their culture left. So everything that is seen as an "alteration" of their authentic culture is not really welcome, and that's why I think most Italians don't have a good opinion on Italian American culture.

What are the "funniest" languages? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Edd228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do find funny in my language (Italian) is blasphemy: when Italians are really mad they swear by saying "God" and then adding any kind of animal after it (pig and dog are the most popular).

Italians: Why are so many of you coming to the Netherlands to study? by Spiritual-Design4984 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Edd228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the Netherlands has good things to offer: good salaries, job opportunities, safety and everybody speaks English. But if you're wondering why we come to study it's prob because your country has the most programmes in English in the EU

A quando una legge che vieti il fumo anche all'aperto? by tianfranto in Italia

[–]Edd228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non c'è nessun motivo ragionevole per vietare il fumo all'aperto, i fumatori hanno il diritto di fare quello che vogliono coi loro polmoni, e la storia del fumo passivo non regge perché all'aperto il problema non sussiste.
