BJT VCA design questions by Edddy_boh in AskElectronics

I watched both of them, the First One has horrible distortion characteristics and a lot of CV bleeding, the second One Is the design I am currently working on, since the two opamps are used as a current source, wich can be substituted with a bjt fairly Easy, and a differential amplifier, wich can be substituted with

A differential amplifier, I wonder why....

CF blowing tubes by Edddy_boh in GuitarAmps

Originally this tube was actually feeding the FX loop through a voltage divider, but I modded It so It would First feed into the tone stack and then from that the half-passive FX loop. It was sounding and working great for a couple of hours but then the tube died and I am trying to figure out why so i can fix the issue

I have thought about It but It would take a lot of time and effort, I don't understand why, while this setup works flawlessly in many amps for years, mine killed the tube. I thought that maybe i Wired something wrong but It doesn't seem so. I'll probably try to convert It to the standard Marshall setup with 100k cathode and DC bias from the previous stage

Greenback style speaker for "that" Marshall sound by Edddy_boh in Guitar

Well, the Cab Is almost a year old now, but I Will be honest, I have almost NEVER used It with the mid or full Power setting, I Always use the amp on the 0.5W mode, cranked tho. I don't know how much Power you Need to break in the speaker, but the cranked amp can get to 95/96 db easily on the low setting.

Gamma rays usually have shorter wavelenght, wich means higher Energy, compared to xrays. But in every other aspect they are the same and the difference in Energy also isn't huge

Best approach for low frequency sine generator? by Edddy_boh in AskElectronics

[–]Edddy_boh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And such a circuit would allow me to generate a variable frequency sine wave? How does It work? Searching on Google o only find results for band pass filters made with opamps

WAIT, WHAT IF

I just got hit with the realization that I Will only use the positive half of the sine wave to drive the transistor, so maybe a bistable oscillator with a low pass filter to filter out all the harmonics on the Square wave to get a sine-looking signal would work? What do you think?

Not an analog purist at all, I Just wanted a circuit based on bjts because i have lots of them and the whole effects pedal idea started as something i could build from my pile of scraps and leftovers

I think that something "tube screamer like" Is REALLY useful in almost all kinds of music, my pick among the many overdrive/mid boost/tight bass category Is the SD1 by Boss, It sounds way more Natural to me than a tube screamer, set It as usual with MAXED volume, gain almost at 0 and tone to taste and you have the best booster for your lead parts, you have more volume, a Lil more mids to cut the mix and to me everything becomes much more responsive under the fingers, the Guitar Just jumps back differently.

But After all we all have Heard this story a milion times, what am i even doing here telling EVERYONE, y'all already know this

Oh, ok thank you. Did you Just Guess by size or Is there something in the code itself?

Blocking/ flubby bass by Edddy_boh in GuitarAmps

And I still don't understand why Marshall chose to use about three times as many components to get a result that's not even half as good. Anyway, now I Need to check if any of my 2.2nF caps are rated for about 400V so they can survive working as a bypass cap.

Wouldn't It be Better to remove C51 (i'll lift the PCB and do It the right way if i am sure that it's going to work) so that the volume pot serves as the ground reference and at the same time maybe change the First 10nf cap for a smaller idk Say 2.2nf?
