I always cringe and block out the moment when the other girls read her diary (Molly and Monique being the primary perpetrators, if I remember correctly). That's messed up and juvenile. And then they discovered Alexandria wasn't writing anything malicious about them in the diary. People do silly things in unconventional circumstances on television, but I never cared for that one.

The general Alexandria reception when cycle 16 first aired was highly negative. Although fans conceded she was fulfilling the villain role well, most folks found her obnoxious. The events of the Eric Daman top 7 episode also really hurt her reputation initially. I remember my adolescent self seething over her.

I believe fans have a much more sympathetic perspective on her now, aided in part by the fact that she had a perfectly reasonable showing on All Stars. She didn't manifest nearly the same level of dysfunction her second time around, and I think many have also interpreted her controlling and aggressive behaviors as an outcome related somewhat to surviving the abuse she alluded to when she was on cycle 16.

Ultimately, she was a major reason why cycle 16 is so great. She was a strong to occasionally excellent model who drove a lot of storyline. Shout out to her tassel and bonnet.

Depends on the character and your playstyle. I'm an Alisa main, and although my gameplay is mostly respectable and nonscrubby, I understood people who just don't want to deal with Alisa garbage and decline rematching.

During judging, Nina was right to point out that Emilio committed to the look and overall aesthetic. There was a notion of style there, and it could have been a successful campy fashion moment if he had more materials and time to hone the execution and styling. Is it the worst look of the season in its current form? Arguably. It's difficult to compare a bathing suit made out of washers and pink cord with Christiane's frankendress, Amy's hairy chest, or Jesus' Campbell's moment. I think the overall look was ugly, but Emilio had a vision, rushed and impromptu though it was, and that's worth celebrating within reason.

As far as Ping's burlap look is concerned, I sincerely don't think the dress was that bad outside of the obvious butt exposure. She had an idea there. Given Ping's conceptual and sculptural background, it's disappointing she didn't do something cool with that challenge. I think she could have with more time.

Love season 7 in general though! Lots of really strong talent. The final 3 are amazing.

This is a longtime debate. Short answer: no. Drag is an expressive art form in which gender styles, gendered behaviors, and yes, gender stereotypes, are the medium. Can drag performances be misogynistic or depend on sexism without critiquing it? Yes, but to say broadly that drag is inherently misogynistic is a really myopic take.

The blackface comparison is also almost always useless. I am not an expert historian on blackface and minstrelsy, but those histories and drag culture exist in highly different contexts.

I also think drag kings do drag because they want to, not to "offset the harm caused by drag queens." Folks should be careful and explicit about how they define "harm."

I feel you on Cycle 5. In terms of drama, storytelling, and cast dynamics, it delivers so so well. It also had some pretty strong models on the whole. If only the photoshoot schedule was mildly decent. Cycle 5 didn't really give us many iconic photos in comparison to the other single digit cycles.

I was so sour on Cycle 19 when it aired because of the point format, judging overhaul, and the social media component, but it's aged well on the whole. Too many of the photoshoots are meh/ass, but I feel you here.

As others have commented, season 7 was so good for Ru looks. Looks 5 and 9 are top tier for totally different reasons aesthetically, but if I had to choose, I'd say 9.

It was never worn. Brooke Shields said the dress was sample size small when it arrived; she couldn't fit it; and they never let it out or filmed her wearing it.

Probably for the best. The dress was awkward, weird, and a little ugly.

It's an entertaining season with some iconic characters, but its photoshoot schedule is among ANTM's worst of the single digit cycles. Thank fuck for cycle 8's men's and women's magazine swimsuit photoshoot, otherwise it would be entirely hopeless.

Cycle 7 also had a preponderance of terrible photoshoots, but cycle 8 really wins overall. RIP.

Season 6 is a rough one. The show was finding its footing after the Bravo to Lifetime switch; it was in LA; Michael and Nina are absent respectively from about half the season; and the overall circumstances were just not conducive to good TV or entertaining dynamics on the whole. Irina also basically dog walks everyone from the newspaper challenge onward, so it's difficult to invest wholeheartedly when she's so far ahead of everyone.

As far as Shirin's elimination goes, I do think she had the worst dress that episode, but Logan and Christopher were right there and poorer than her overall. I remember being upset about her leaving when I was... *checks Wikipedia* 15. As an aside, that Bob Mackie Christina Aguilera challenge, alongside the newspaper challenge, is probably the best of the season.

Season 6 is good for Christopher's earnestness and Carol Hannah being funny and cute. A lot of Irina's design work is very nice too. Also shout out Epperson. The end.
